RE: Diesel WONT stay STARTED

franchise,

I agree with George. I have been flying diesels for 8 years now, and it sound like the engine is toast to me. If you are in love with the engine, I would suggest you rebuild it. I...

RE: need help with diesel rc engine!! help asap!!

Maybe that is why I find running these engines so "enjoyable".

RE: need help with diesel rc engine!! help asap!!

The Amyl nitrate is only about 2% of the mix. I have heard that it is not absolutely needed, but it does help. I have no idea where you can get it, and for the record, good luck on finding the liquid...

RE: need help with diesel rc engine!! help asap!!

I am not sure if I was talking to you or not. The person I was talking to was also mixing his own ether/oil mix for his fuel tests.

Hobbsy, after reading your results a few times, I think the...

greasybenz

Back to your original question. Yes you can get a diesel for the truck. I would suggest contacting Davis Diesel for an engine and a conversion head. I would say that a .10 should...

RE: 40 diesel performance

A few years ago, I managed 8900 out of a Davis converted FP 40 with a 12x6 apc. It slowed down the Big stick a bit, but the vertical performance was better then the 11x7 at 10500. Just to comparison...

fuel proofing and things

you will still have to fuel proof your plane, as if you were going to run glow. Even though they are diesels, they are 2 stroke engines, and will still throw the oil like a glow engine. Only...

Re: OS 61FX Diesel Conversion

Well I have one I converted when it was new. This 61 FX I have is currently on a 40 size Ultrasport. (VERY FUN PLANE WITH THAT ENGINE ON DIESEL) Mine is turning a 12x8 APC at, I hope you are sitting...

ringed, or non ringed, that is the question.

I have been flying O.S. conversions for about 8 years now. I have personally found no real performance difference between a ringed engine, and one that is not of the same type, and size.

BUT, I...

Supercharged,Intercooled HPI...HOLY *****!!

Lets talk about an Intercooler on a Semi Truck. An intercooler is basically a radiator. In a Truck, intake air is compressed by a turbo charger. When air is compressed quickly, it heats up. If this...

Quadra 35 questions

Ok, here is the story.

I picked up a used scratch built, that resembles a Big Stick on steroids. This 7 foot wingspan thing is powered by of course a Quadra 35. I have absolutely no paperwork on...

Thinking of a Smaller ARF Trainer for Diesel ?

I have heard that the PAW .19 (I personally don't fly PAWs, I convert OS to diesel) Will turn up to an 11x6 prop. How fast??

I think I would try the PAW on the .40 trainer with a 10x6 prop IF I...

Starters with a DIESEL, Good or bad?

I will try to answer some of these for you.

What I don't understand is why I can flip it and flip it and flip it and it suddenly starts.
HERE is an answer to this,,, unlike a glow engine, there...

Starters with a DIESEL, Good or bad?

Bighead,

I do not run PAW engines, I run OS with Davis conversion heads. The smallest thing I run is a .40. I use my electric starter all the time, even though the directions say not to. Here is...

Re: Dave

Well you could become head of fuel research, and development for Davis Model Products. But the commute to Connecticut every day for work, might wear on you a bit.

Made some bio diesel, now what?

Marcus,

I you got one, or be willing to get one, pick up a temperature gun. It would be interesting to see what kind of head temps you are generating. Exhaust temps would be cool too.

I think...

Made some bio diesel, now what?

I am starting to think the same thing. That the FAME just does not have the "kick" that the kerosene does. How about a 50, 50 mix of FAME, and Kersoene???

Made some bio diesel, now what?

I don't think anyone has tried Acetone. I don't think it will work either. The ether's boiling point has something to do with it as well. I don't think Acetone would vaporize fast enough to be...

Well lets do this first, I am sure you know how a "real" diesel runs, but I am going to give a fast explanation anyhow, just for the benefit of anyone else reading this. Basically the engine on the...

Made some bio diesel, now what?

Marcus,

A few questions. First, I have been flying with os, and Davis heads on all my stuff for about 7 years. I have 5 engines converted, two of which are, well were in a ov-10, before that...

Sorry If it's a Hot Topic, Waivers

Bill,

Let me clear up what I was saying. First of all, you are right that the waiver did not prevent the accidents. I see the waiver more like an endorsement, that the holder has proven he, or she...

Sorry If it's a Hot Topic, Waivers

Here is something else to consider.

Lets talk about crashes. All the piston powered models I have seen go in, for what ever reason, ended with nothing more than a loud crunch, and in some cases...

I happen to play with a rather large indoor blimp from time to time. Helium will lift just under an ounce, per cubic foot. Given that, I really don't think filling the wing of an indoor flyer, will...

well you could use gel cell batteries, like the one used in the normal flight box, but for the cost, and amount of power you get out of them, they are just not cost effective. Not to mention, they...
