RE: AFPD Lancaster: Work in Progress

I would welcome any criticisms or improvements to this paper.

Aerofly is a technical simulator. It can be used very productively at an immediate level – as a training aid to would-be rc...

RE: AFPD Lancaster: Work in Progress

Hi all, join with me drinking a half bottle of champagne!

I wanted the Lancaster to be at 1:1 scale relative to AFPD. But I had a lot of doubts that I would get there. It really is big at 31...

RE: Need a license for my own work? Surely not!

Problem solved!

For any aircraft model, you may have either a single tgo/obj file or multiple tgo/obj files. If you have several, they are stitched together in the TMG file since each object...

Need a license for my own work? Surely not!

Here's an interesting one for you, Mike.

I am building a test implementation of my Lancaster. The folder in 'aircraft' is mine. All files in the folder were created by me.

Now why should...

RE: AFPD Lancaster: Work in Progress

A note on texture mapping techniques in AFPD

Subject to the amount of RAM memory installed on the computer being used, I have found that I can use a texture file up to 4096 x 4096 pixels, that...

Avro Lancaster: How to size components without measurement

I found this to be helpful or at any rate reassuring.

Estimating component dimensions from photos is not impossible; but it is difficult. So I tried this.

Create a rectangular block scaled...

Avro Lancaster: how to avoid double face problems

If a part is drawn as a double-faced polygon in Metasequoia, it will have the same texture both inside and out as it is very difficult and time-consuming to separate the two faces in order to apply...

RE: Sorry, I couldn't resist it!

The Lancaster model is already flying with an initial TMD file. So it can certainly stand on its own two feet so to speak in AFPD. But it is not possible to see many details even with 3D sceneries....

Sorry, I couldn't resist it!

Here is a pic of the Avro Lancaster Mk I (not III as it doesn't have Packard Merlin engines) under construction.

It's been worth the pain. It looks so good. And it suggests how useful Trolley...

Pushing AFPD to the limit

Fine detail in an AFPD model has a cost. The count of polygons (faces in Metasequoia) and vertices increases rapidly. If you want wheels that look round or curves that are not angular then you must...

An illustration of technique

Recently I made a dummy model as a tool or trolley to carry components from another model under constuction and to show me

details which might not be visible in the 3D drawing program I am...

RE: Aerofly & Easyfly new distributor

OK, Robby. So AFPD and RealFlight have each their advantages. But what are they?
Unfortunately I know nothing about RealFlight; only that I couldn't find anyone to sell it to me when I tried to buy...

RE: Aerofly & Easyfly new distributor

Mike, that's very good news.
I'm hoping that there will be a strong customer base in the USA. That will make good software even better as it will inspire and motivate the developers.

If I...

RE: What is it? What have I drawn?

Positively the last clue!

Which air force?
Which bomber?
Who made it?
Which variant is it?

Looking at my project, I most urgently need help with the sceneries.

Best...

27Mb model flies in AFPD

Hi all,

Drawing my turret in, perhaps, excessive detail, I was scared stiff I would exceed AFPD program limits.

So I stuck the turret on my A10 model which was pretty big to start with and...

A nice A10 TL2! But who is the original owner?.

Where did the basic model of this A10 come from? I need to ask the original owner's permission to publish the model. If I can't get permission, I'll have to delete it which would be a shame.

I gave the two rpm values only as an example of the spread. The aircraft held level, the rpm values come up to yours.

I think you are right; the problem is in the...
