Well,

I use a gyro on my ESM ME-109.
Better a not so good pilot still flying his ME-109 than a tough one next to his crashed plane. I'm using mine on HH (Heading Hold) and turning it off...

You could also install a gyro on the rudder. She'll be as on rails, even off the grass.

Mike,

I'm running a 2-blade 16x8 Master Airscrew at the moment. When the engine is well runned in, I'll try a 3-blade 17x8 Graupner. The spinner for this prop is already painted.
The engine runs...

Kurrian,

Mine is considered very light, and weights 6,5 kilo. The CG is at 107 mm from the leading edge. I use elevator throw 15 mm up and down. So I think the weight of your plane is quite good....

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Jescardin,

Thanks for your input. Gives me some new insight. I'm I right that youre suggesting to remove the 45 degrees part, and still leave a piece of the tube on the carb?

regards,

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Merlin Man,

In my case the engine runs fine when the plane is on the ground. Even when I let it run at max trottle for one minute.
The problem only occurs when the plane is at speed in the...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Kahloq,

On the foto it looks far worse than it actually is. Here's a picture of the situation before. Only the triangle was added. A hole was not possible, because the plastic tube was at the...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Brad, Terrry,

I made the extra V-cut in the cowl.
I also connected a hose/tube on the carb and made a 45 degrees cut at the end.
The pictures show what I mean. This sunday I can try the...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Redback,

Yes, it is an OS 120 AX. For the lip; doesn't that also corrupt the cooling?

Brad330L,

This V-shape is worth a try. However, the air intake of the carburator is close to the...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Finally, at last the maiden flight.
CG at 107 mm. Using a gyro on the rudder. This is a huge succes to use the gyro. Flying off a grass field, the plane tracks as on rails. The gyro in heading hold...

Sonnich Johannesen,

Though on their site Lindinger states that it will not send (which they are obliged). they simply do when you order and pay the plane. I myself did that with mine. They send...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

Here's the end result. I sprayed the spinner black. Baked it in the wife's oven for two hours at 100 degrees celcius. This was done to make it resist the electric starter. I hope...

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

About the weight,

I build the plane as shown in the manual.
I used carbon push rods for the elevator and the rudder.
All servo's are in the places as shown in the manual.
I used an...

Kahloq,

I'll try measure the weight to be added at 110 mm. I'm curious how much weight this 5mm I can spare. I'll let you know.

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread

The plane was on the scale and the CG-balancer today.
I'll begin at 105 mm, the CG I see most pilots on this forum are happy with.

To reach this, I have to add 175 grams or 6.2 ounces.
The...
