RE: Flight Simulators

I'm gonna be the odd man out once again and say that I slightly prefer the feel of helis in RF to Phoenix, but they're both VERY close. Buy based on the other features, neither flight model will...

RE: Getting first decent heli- go flybarless or no?

My trex500 has 3GX and I've had no problems with it aside from having to hook it up through a standard Rx because I have a DX6i (issue with channel assignment.) It won't be a problem with for you if...

RE: E Flite 400 3D goes haywire!

Don't suppose the Tx was in idle up or something?

In the future either remove your blades, disconnect the bullet connectors to the motor, or strap it to a bench. I really feel for you, that had...

RE: Getting first decent heli- go flybarless or no?

Flybarless will handle wind better and give you a simpler head that's quicker/easier/cheaper to repair after a crash. I see no reason not to go FBL these days. Nothing wrong with FB performance, but...

RE: Need a helping Hand

I can second pretty much everything ATV said.

I started out on a Blade 400 and flew by myself for a year or so, quite successfully actually (LOTS of sim time was key to my success). I wasn't...

RE: Beginner, question about changing controls

To add to what was said regarding the use of throttle hold, I have a tip for helping to make the mCPx even more durable.

This is probably getting into stuff you aren't familiar with yet, but it...

RE: Beginner, question about changing controls

If you can afford to go larger than a 450 you'll find it MUCH easier to fly. The jump in stability between a 450 and 500 is probably the biggest out of all the different sizes.

RE: Small beginner heli suggestions

If you're serious about learning and would like to be flying 6ch helis eventually, start with either Phoenix or Realflight and an mCPx or Nano CPx. It cannot be stressed near enough that a simulator...

RE: Heli stuff and fellowship

Well it depends on whether you actually have some sort of control induced drift. If you can tip it a bit to the right and hover then it's all good, as the drift is caused purely by the physics of the...

RE: Looking for recommandations?

Completely agree. I was self taught on a Blade 450 thanks to a ton of time spent learning everything on RealFlight before attempting it on the real deal. Now with the Nano CPX and mCPx available you...

RE: Heli stuff and fellowship

Is it drifting slightly to the left? If so that's something all helicopters do, they have to hover leaning to the right a bit to counteract the thrust from the tail rotor.

If it's a severe...

RE: Re-beginner for heli.... BOUGHT IT, MCX2

Unfortunately no skills transfer to collective pitch helicopters except the absolute basics of orientation that you can pick up with any rc vehicle. As others are saying, sim is the absolute best way...

RE: Questions and looking for recommendations

Honestly the Nano CPx is probably the better purchase right now, I'm not sure what the price difference is off the top of my head. It addresses all the issues with the mCPx that people came up with...

RE: Questions and looking for recommendations

Nah, airplanes are most definitely easier to learn and a lot more relaxing to fly. At high level aerobatics both demand extreme skill and precision, and planes definitely have their quirks to learn,...

RE: Heli stuff and fellowship

I look at Logos the way people look at Ferraris haha. I was really seriously considering going all in on a 600SX build this year but that's a lot of money vs my income and I'm looking into finally...

RE: Heli stuff and fellowship

I unfortunately haven't had a chance to fly since then :( I work into the evening and it's totally dark outside before I even get to leave. The few days I've had time to go out to the field I've been...

RE: Blade mCP X v2 or Blade Nano CP X

The Nano is cheaper? Are you sure you're not comparing a BNF to an RTF package?

The Nano is basically the new mCPx, from what I hear it corrects all the issues the mCPx had without sacrificing...

RE: Sprint 2

CounterSteer. It means you switch up your gear ratios so that your rear wheels turn faster than the fronts. This lets you hold a counter angle during drifts, which makes the car look and behave more...

RE: Raptor 30v2 or Trex 550

I don't have any experience with Futaba at all but I know it's a very nice product. I've considered switching over once or twice just because I like the general image and aesthetic quite a bit, and...

RE: locking diff

No prob :)

And yeah locked diff is a must for drifting, drastically improves control while sideways!

RE: locking diff

You can probably just open it up and put something in there to bind up the gears. You could just fill it with glue, but I've always used a bit of bandage or something like sticky tack so I could undo...

RE: Raptor 30v2 or Trex 550

Gah I'm late. I was going to say I'd personally recommend a flybarless setup. There's less to replace and repair in the event of a crash, and they tend to handle wind noticeably better. There's...

RE: Raptor 30v2 or Trex 550

Throttle curve, pinion, blade length and battery will all factor into head speed. Dont worry about it too much, you'll have a decent useable range with the basic setup. I personally think a higher...

RE: Raptor 30v2 or Trex 550

The 550 will likely be more bang for your buck unless you're getting some killer used deal. The 30 is just an underpowered 50, and the 550 is sort of an underpowered 600. You'll likely see a bit...
