RE: Do I need a bec

Then yes, you will need one. You can't run your radio equipment directly from the high-voltage flight pack. You could get a Castle CC BEC (http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cc_bec.html) for...

RE: brushless motors

Trust me, there's no comparison. It's not the speed that's an issue, it's the torque - when you're driving a nitro capable of 45 MPH, you can usually open it to full throttle most of the time, and...

RE: brushless motors

If you're upgrading to brushless for the first time, I'd shy away from the 3s lithium packs.  The change from brushed to brushless is already such a difference that you're going to need to learn how...

RE: brushless motors

You're looking at it wrong. It's going in an Evader, sure, but gearing is cheap - you should pick your motor based on your car, and your gearing based on the motor, not the other way around. For a...

RE: More power than 2200kv castle motor?

Price gouging is indeed a crime, but it's very different from merely charging ridiculous prices. Price gouging is when prices of goods are increased significantly to take advantage of a temporary or...

RE: 3.3 Revo VS. E-Revo Brushless

The standard brushed model?  It will have more low-end torque than the nitro, and might even be faster on an extremely small, tight track.  You'll also have better fine throttle control if you want...

RE: best slash motor combo?

The VXL system is rated at 200 amps on the Traxxas website, but I think that's a bit optimistic.  A Castle Mamba Monster isn't even rated for that much unless you add all the phases together.  I've...

RE: best slash motor combo?

If you want the huge performance available from brushless systems, get a 60 amp controller and either the 8.5t or 13.5t motor.  If you're just looking for low maintenance and an upgrade from stock...

RE: More power than 2200kv castle motor?

If changing the EPA made a difference to the way your truck drives (or heats up), then it plainly made a difference. I'm wondering if you got the full potential out of the system once you'd made that...

RE: 3.3 Revo VS. E-Revo Brushless

To clarify what YFZ said, the brushless truck will absolutely decimate the nitro truck in almost every category. If you enjoy engine tuning, like the sound and smell of a nitro engine, or want to run...

RE: RC Hobby Work Space

You hear this story occasionally, but you don't hear the whole thing. The Russians now use our pens in space, because there are some potential issues with conductive graphite floating into sensitive...

RE: slash orion motor please respond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Any of them will technically fit, but for the best range of gearing available, get an SV2 Pro BB 17-turn (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJAJ5&P=7).

RE: DX6 or DX6i?

The DX6i is the one you want. The DX6 is only compatible with the AR6000 receiver, which is only intended for short-range parkflyers. The DX6i is easier to use, weighs less thanks to running on only...

RE: Series connector sparking

Most balance chargers require both the main discharge lead and the balance tap (you often need another adapter to plug two 3s packs into a 6s balance tap, but some chargers may allow this normally)....

RE: Series connector sparking

He hasn't said what charger will be used. Pretty much any charger with a built-in balancer can be used safely in this fashion. The charger sees a 6s pack with three cells noticeably off-balance from...

RE: Use of battery balancing output to power BEC

I don't think it would cause any problems.  The balance leads on all my batteries are lower-gauge than the servo lead running from the BEC to the receiver, so there's no reason to expect problems...

RE: Series connector sparking

No, that all seems correct. Take a look at the back of all three Dean's plugs and see if there's a small fleck of solder bridging any of the contacts. I'm really stumped about this right now; your...

RE: Sig Wonder Conversion for Speed Setup help??

I just recently finished an electric Wonder. Full details can be found HERE (http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47225), but the short answer is that I used a Turnigy 35-30B...

RE: Series connector sparking

What's on the other end of your series adapter?  If it's bullet connectors to plug into your charger, then I'd guess the bullets were touching each other.  When you plugged the second battery in you...

RE: Tamiya Gravel Hound

Nice luck you have with your flying buddies! 100 hours doesn't seem like much on a brushless motor; I've got glow engines with more time than that.

The only problem I've got with the sensored...

RE: Tamiya Gravel Hound

It's nice to see I'm not in totally uncharted territory here!  That's a very nice-looking car you've got.

I suppose if I decide to run sensorless brushless, I'll take a look at a Medusa 3300 or a...

RE: Tamiya Gravel Hound

I'm thinking about getting a Gravel Hound to play with, but I'm looking for advice on a motor.  I'm not entirely sure what the differential ratios are or anything like that, and I don't really have a...

RE: Promatch vs. Cheap Battery Packs.com

The Pro-Match packs, or any other EnerG-based packs, are absolutely worth the extra money over any other NiMH battery on the planet. I've got both an SPC matched sport pack and an SMC unmatched stick...

RE: What do you see in 20 years?

Nitro as we know it will be gone.  Already, there's a great deal of legislation coming into play about 2-stroke spark-ignition engines, and I doubt it's going to be too much longer before they start...
