There is an r/c airplane club near my home so I finally went there to ask a few things and here is what I have learned:

When starting their airplane engines they always give about 1/3 to 1/2...

The 9x6 prop is the same that they are using on the AT so that would fit.

How many mAh does your LiPo have, how long is the run time and what size and weight is your gator?

Well with all your comments it sounds to me as if an electric conversion is not the mission impossible I thought it would be.
Hopefully the run time still will be good then, I have no idea on prop...

Hi crispyspa,
I already thought about that but what keeps me from doing it is that I fear the weight of the boat will be too high with two LiPos on the left and right side for balance and run time....
