based on specs, the viper 10 sub ESC is capable of handling 12 volts and 40 amps, so nothing you specifically state is improper in your setup. you state that you have smoked...

i have had the linear bec in a highly reputable $180 ESC fail in a 3s situation, it took them 13 weeks to fix it.

just spend the extra $20 and always use a UBEC, save...

I switched over to LEDs because of the life span, not for electrical reasons.

With a life of 20,000 hours, I don't think my great grand children will need to replace them, andIt is nice...

I have three submarines that use engel piston tanks, although none of them are engel subs, and all use a single tank.

I definitely think the TMAX is a more CAPABLE system, I would have no question...

the spektrum marine radios such as the mr3000 you linked to are designed for boats - it even says so in the product description on the link. they will not work on submarines.

an individual i know personally showed me his "fixed" dumas gato sub.

the original dumas leaked like a siv, so he "fixed" it by using the original plastic hull as a mold to make a fiberglass...
