And yep that's a gyro on the RC18, though it's a crappier brand and I have to turn the gain way down or it'll spaz out at high speeds (it's actually kind of funny to watch)....

also, the mini db's shocks have air in them so when the shock is upside down the piston is in the air instead of being fully emmersed in oil, which affects the way it performs & how the car...

i just got started in R/C because i bought my son one for christmas & another for his birthday in Feb

the stock pinion: take the cover off & count...

last question first: SHOCKS!
i'm using 3racing shocks, vector is getting GPM shocks, & others are using losi aluminum shocks
chuck still uses the stock...

here you go vector, i took some shots of the shocks installed
the top is a cup like the steering links, it just pops on the ball
the bottom has a ball and swivels without binding
...

ok guys, since we're back on the subject of shocks again, here is my assessment of the 3racing shocks
buy these shocks (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370347172362)
they fit...

that would be fine, but the threads are metric & i don't have any nuts to put on them to clean the threads up after shortening
and the ball sticks out farther from the flange than the stock ones so...

well, the shocks came in today and i must say they look much better on the buggy than the stock ones

a couple of issues though
1: one of the front shocks is shorter than the other by .025"

my local spirits shop asked the same question when i asked them to stock it, now they can't keep in stock, half the time i go there they only have one 12pk left

sorry sancho, they say chrome, it may be plastic
but when i looked them up i swear they said aluminum, i even double checked them
the web sites must have had an error then fixed it this morning

yeah, i built the track for the stampede
started working on it a week before christmas, because i got my son the stampede for christmas
the little buggy made the double that you see the stampede...
