RE: Applying Primer............

I was just seeing what all my options were since I really only need about 3oz because I'm just clearing the cowl.  Looks like the 2 part is good for 24 hours.  I guess I'll have to chuck the...

RE: Applying Primer............

Thanks.  I was in the auto parts store and saw a clear made by dupli color.  It was an engine clear so it was high temp and gas resistant(not sure on the wording ,  may have been proof).  It was...

RE: Applying Primer............

A little update.  At least I found out now before I learned the hard way which was only a day or two away.

RE: Applying Primer............

LustreKote is the "clear".  I used Testors for the color.  Testors is what guys were using to paint the bodys on R/C cars and trucks.  It actually laid down really nice. I'm not setup "yet"  to use...

RE: Applying Primer............

I'm going to use LustreKote by Top Flite,  advanced formula.  Supposed to be high gloss and fuel proof.  A guy that ran boats who works at a hobby shop said it will work good.

Have 3 coats of color on it as we speak.  Now I'm letting it completly dry.  Looks pretty darn good.  No runs either.  Bonus!

RE: Applying Primer............

That was the game plan, but after 10 mins it was already dry to the touch. I wasn't going to "touch" it, except it looked dry already. Sure enough, it was. I'm not worried about the nitro affecting...

RE: Applying Primer............

New question.  I put a coat on and it dried about instantly.  So,  if I were to spray on another coat should I wet sand it first,  just scuff it, or,  do I really need another one since all it's for...

RE: Vintage K&B 3.5

You can try the exhaust throttle, but, if it were me , I would change it out to a carb. Back in the day, everyone swapped to a carb(almost everyone). You may also look at getting a newer lower unit....

RE: Fuel proofing ABS or Plura Plastic?

I agree. After running, I spray everything down with Windexthat comes in contact with fuel and wipe it off with a rag. I spray the whole outside of the hull too. Takes off oily finger prints.....
