RE: Tamiya KT - A beginners build

I wish there were more threads like this to show us beginners what traps to avoid when choosing and building a kit. I must admit that in my ignorance I always assumed the Tamiyas don't need any...

RE: Tamiya KT - A beginners build

Thank you and danlrc, sorry for the hijack, I just wanted to get feedback from KT owners who would without a doubt visit your build thread. The price looked low and I was wondering why it is so cheap...

RE: Tamiya KT - A beginners build

A question for the KT owners - I found a KT vintage 1984 kit on ebay going for about 200 USD now. Does anyone have this one and if you could share your impressions - is it worth buying and can it be...

RE: Tamiya KT - A beginners build

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I had no idea that tanks are divided into different "weight categories" and wondered how this is modeled. The system seems far from perfect but until they design...

RE: Tamiya KT - A beginners build

Does it matter whether you have a JT or a Pz III in IR battles? Aren't they all equal, i.e. a hit is a hit? Perhaps you were just joking, I have no idea about IR battles but the comment seemed odd.

RE: Twin gearboxes question

I saw in an old thread you converted a 1/25 Academy kit to an RC. Was fitting the Tamiya box easy or you had to do a lot of modifications in the hull?

RE: Fixing Mato KV-1 metal drive sprockets

How did you remove the sprocket cover for the KV-1? I have metal wheels but would like to take a look inside - it's starting to feel a little wobbly and I wonder if it's about to unscrew itself just...

RE: Tiger Metal from Heng Long

Are you saying they are copyrights being paid for the privilege to produce exact scale replicas of the real thing? Who is Tamiya paying the fees to for example?

We have a couple of hobbytown stores, I need to pay them a visit. I went to one of them last month but was looking for RC tanks and didn't pay attention to the statics.

RE: Tamiya model kits advice

Oh, rest assured my kits were of pretty low quality. They were Soviet-made, scale 1/30, not R/C but wire guided. KV-85, JS-3, JSU-152. I'd bet Tamiya in the 80s was much better. Tube glue of course,...

RE: Tamiya model kits advice

Thanks BiggTony, are the 1/35 static kits easy to find in retail stores or you recommend looking online for one? Maybe I'll just pick a German/Soviet vintage WW2 model from Amazon and be done with it.

RE: Tamiya model kits advice

I'd say both assembly and painting. I haven't touched a modeling knife, glue or paint for years. Something small and quick just to warm up I guess.

RE: King Tiger

Btw there is a King Tiger on the Heng Long site but no info about a release date or anything else. I wonder if they will offer it for the same low price as the rest of the line-up.

OK, thanks, I wasn't sure on which end of the bolt to apply. Mine is blue so should be ok but will be careful not to overdo it.

RE: KV-1 Arrived

Should I put just a drop right in the middle within the dark nut at the tip of the bolt?
