RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

Hi Bob
I took a photo of the real Amphicar from the side. I then printed it out on a big piece of paper. Then, I measured that, and doubled the measurements on to cardboard. That became my side...

RE: Rc Alligator

An oar powered viking ship would deffinetly be an unusual rc project. It would be pretty cool, too! I have thought about making an aquatic mammal: beaver, nutria, muskrat, something like that. It...

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

I still have all the photos I took of a real Amphicar we had at work. I used these a lot when I made my model. If anyone needs a picture of a certain area, chances are I have it. Just let me know.

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

No, I'm not a member of twitter. Oh well. I don't have any pictures of the bottem during construction, but I did take some today. As you can see, there arn't any traditional rudders. It steers on...

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

My pictures seem to be too large, so I'll have to post one or two at a time. Sorry for any doubles.

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

I don't have any good pics of the axels, but you can see them in the first picture, along with the convertible top frame, rear suspension arm and the shocks.

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

Ron is correct. I used marine pushrod seals. They worked great . The front dosen't leak, but the back does. Not through the seals, but through the half shafts I made. They are dog bone axels from an...

RE: Radio Controlled Amphicar

No, I don't have any plans for the Amphicar. It was scratch built. It is made mostly from 1/8 mahogony door skin and balsa wood. It is covered in fiberglass, and then primed and painted with...

RE: How old is this boat?

Didn't think it would be that old! The build quality deffinetly looks mass production style. The battery shown is a D cell. It is 12 inches long and weighs 7.7 oz.. Our boat club has a small portable...

How old is this boat?

Hi there. A fellow gave this boat to me today. It was given to him in the past, but he didn't want to do anything with it. He figured that I would be able to adapt it to be radio controlled. Anyone...

RE: Rc Alligator

Our club participated in a hobby show in a local mall, last month. One of the members placed a coin in the gator's mouth, to see the people's reaction. Not long after, all the kids were asking mom...

RE: Rc Alligator

One of the other club members at our pond was mentioning that he hasn't seen as many birds hanging around anymore. The seagulls just circle around, spot the gator, and fly off !

RE: Rc Alligator

The body is just white styrofoam carved with 80 grit sand paper wrapped around a d-cell battery. I wanted a rough look, not smooth, so this worked great and was quick to do . It was painted using a...

RE: Rc Alligator

The idea was to make something simple. A sub would require more complex equipment. My gator is fairly simple: one rudder servo and one speed control. It could be built like this and work fine . I...

Thanks! That was the first gator. It was about 3 feet long. The next one is twice the size, with working jaw, eyeballs, eyelids, and a sound module to make it roar. The ducks up here have never seen...
