You need to have a pretty slick and clean-lined airplane to get the most of the less than 6" props.

If you're looking for speed - try a 6X6 APC - looks like w/that motor and pack, it's as good as...

Make sure you have the capacitors on the motor, and most importantly the shottke diode across the motor poles, with the stripe facing the pos lead from the controller.

Yes, in all counts - bigger pinion = more current draw, hotter motor, shorter run times, and may damage the motor in extreme cases.
