Yes you will need an Antisyphon Valve to stop Muffler pressure from pushing the oil out of the pump when not in use thus loosing the Pump prime, as seen here in the setup information page....

I use the Sullivan pumps on My smokers too, easy to program. What engine and muffler do you have in your Taylorcraft? My 82" Gee Bee (the onein My Avatar) runs on an MVVS 35 with a stock muffler....
