RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Really good call, ATV. I had some 3" foam Lite Wheels as spares and a little sanding within the openings of the wheel pants using a Dremel sanding bit was all that was required to fit them in there....

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Thanks, ATV - I'll have to pick up some 2.75" wheels and give 'em a try. I guess if 2.75" wheels fit, 3" could probably fit with some slight modification?

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Finally got some video of the Extra330L-EP in action (though it's not great, camera guy had a tough time following the plane on a Sunny day), I've flown it several times now and it's a winner, very...

RE: Airfield T-28 is now in stock!

Thanks, dditch - the ESC can take up to 50A (the 2-5S limitation is dictated by the rating of the built-in SBEC, Ican always pull the Red ESCRx wire and use my own switching UBEC that can take 6S+),...

RE: Airfield T-28 is now in stock!

Hey Dditch - you think these will run on 6S? Might pull the trigger on one if the stock electronics are good on 6 cell...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

I'd say this Extra is definitely not the best airframe for learning on, I've been flying for about 7 years now (fast pylon-type racers, Nitro warbirds, as well as various sized heli's) and made a...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

I'll leave the up-thrust as-is, I definitely didn't notice the model pulling down at full throttle so I can only assume the up-thrust is doing its job. Can anyone verify whether or not this is a...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

ATV - Don't worry too much about up-thrust, you want to correct with wing/elevator incidence as much as possible. Look up P factor effects on planes, it's best to keep the thrust angle of the motor...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

ATV - we are in the same boat (no pun intended), too much rain and wet/soaked unmowed fields. We've had nearly 16" of rain since March 1st, our normal rainfall for the entire Spring is about 9"....

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Happy to report that I did not repeat history on my 2nd maiden of the 330L EP. It flew beautifully. I made no changes except for using smaller 2200mAh packs (instead of 2650mAh), and balanced the...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Hey dditch - the 13x4 prop looks like a good one for that .46 MPmotor, though it draws 58 Amps on a 5S5Ah batt. 11.5 lbs. of thrust according to the "extensive reviews"Tab within Hobbypartz.com. That...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

The specs on the EMP 5055-400kV aren't terribly different from the Monster Power .46 (http://www.hobbypartz.com/monsterpower-46670kvoutrunner-brushless-motor.html), except the Monster Power motor...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Yes, I have a couple of ideas for the next (maiden v2) flight...go from 6S 2650mAh to 6S 2200mAh LiPo packs, this will probably reduce flight time by a couple of minutes, not the end of the world,...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Good point - the elevators do move nice and evenly up to the same height both up and down, Ihave more total throw on down elevator but set it up that way intentionally as I prefer to have more down...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Thanks, opjose. My 330Lis ready to fly at this point, just need to wait for the fields to dry out and grass to be mowed before Ican take it up for a maiden flight. Added some aileron->elevator and...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Not getting as much throw as I would've liked on the ailerons or elevators, that's using the outer-most hole on the servo arm and inner-most hole on the control horn. The throw meets/slightly...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

Thanks for the tips, guys. I ended up drilling a small U-shape out of the lower cowling to get at the bottom screw in the "plus" shape of the motor mount, otherwise it was not accessible to tools or...

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

How'd you guys mount your motors? My mount fits the "plus" layout using the predrilled holes, the only problem is gaining access to that bottom hole. I suppose I could install the radial mount first...

I'll add that up thrust using washers, I'll probably need it.

RE: Extra 330L-EP Extreme 3D RC Acrobatic Plane ARF

The Monster Power 46 (http://www.nitroplanes.com/mo466brmo.html) is about 2 oz. lighter than the Monster 60 or Turnigy 50-65A (12 oz. vs. 14 oz.), so it's a very small weight penalty to go from the...
