Reflection works, a friend of mine has a Jagdtiger with front of apple taped (no score on front of tank).
I was able to score on him while he backed up near a car with a chrome bumper.

Try calibrating with dual rate setting in the low position.

Plus set the trim in neutral before calibrating, the Dx5 has an electronic trim wich is a pain when calibrating the DMD.

I beleive you candivide the IR tank Battles in two preferences:

1) Scale accuracy with correct motion, movement and battle strenghts, perhaps even to re-enact actual battles.

2) Fun Battle...
