RE: Excess RX aerial wire.

There are numerous ways to deal with extra RX length. All those replies about not cutting the length or doubling back on the wire should be strictly obeyed. You didn't mention which trainer model you...

RE: Hobbico Superstar

The other guys are pretty much on with their advice. Not a lot you can do to make remarkable performance improvements. If the 3 months you've been flying is your only experience and you're already...

RE: Hobbico has some nerve calling this RTF

Advertising for anything is usually frustrating to the consumer. If I could buy a Whopper at Burger King that even looked like the ones on the TV commercials......I'd probably eat one every day.

RE: Hobbico Superstar CG

Yesterday I posted a reply in another forum to someone with the exact same question. When I first got that plane I was amazed how extremely nose heavy it was when balancing the CG 4 5/32" from the...

RE: Hobbico Superstar CG

It is better to have a trainer heavier toward the nose than tail heavy. I can't remember the exact CG measurement when I first assembled this plane according to the instructions that came with it,...

RE: OS .40 la problem

So many possibilities with this one.........

If plane balance, setup, and running gear haven't changed, I believe Flyboy Dave may be asking the most important question. Those non-ringed engines...

RE: What do I need to have to start flying?

Air Mail RCU has a good tip about extra glow plugs.. If you have a decent local hobby shop in your area, they will have these inexpensive goodies.......
The OS 40LA uses an A3 glow plug. These...

RE: Help with first plane

Is the plane new? If so, that's a good price at about $50 less than regular retail. You'll need some additional field equipment to start. If this is your first plane try to talk with some old hands...

RE: OS .40 engine

The OS 40LA does use an A3 glow plug. Really should have at least one spare on hand at all times...they're not very expensive. If you question the plug's integrity, just install a new one.

I...

RE: Superstar folded

Some earlier versions of the Superstar had the wing halves permanently joined with a sturdy wood joiner epoxied in. For extra support a thin metal strap could be screwed across the joint back near...

RE: Couple Of Newbie Questions

ho2zoo has a good suggestion by wearing a work glove while starting the engine. Just make sure it's not a really bulky one that could get wrapped up in the prop. Although some think an electric...

RE: how to get part of screw out

The hot method suggested by FHH and MinnFlyer is probably the best solution. You didn't say how deep in the hole the end of the broken surface is? But since there's such a long lead time to get the...

RE: Would you join a club that drinks alcohol while flying?

WOW....This post had "POWDER KEG" written all over it and all of us couldn't resist the urge to send a reply. But, with all the safety aspects of this hobby, I believe its good to hear what...

RE: Should I use Resin & Hardner or Epoxy?

Fiberglass (FRP) is merely epoxy adhesive with a glass weave or strand incorporated into it to create a structural element rather than simply bonding 2 things together. Adhesives called epoxies are...

RE: Would you join a club that drinks alcohol while flying?

In addition to all the many good reasons to not drink any booze if you're planning to fly there is one more. I live in Upstate New York. This state is one that has lowered the max. blood/alcohol...

RE: Need advice on first nitro plane

Since you're not brand new to flying that experience will help. Check to see if the club you're going to join has a trainer used for instruction...some do. The 4 star isn't a bad choice but make sure...

RE: Wing rubber bands

Rubber Bands...something so simple. Don't get caught up in color. It doesn't mean a thing. But, if some want to get into rubber band technology, here's an example of some brown bands...

RE: Oh Beep! I used 5 Min Epoxy on my Wing and Tail!! Oh Beep Beep Beep!!!

WOW.....I can't believe how many posts there are these days on epoxy. Like some others have stated....your glued joint will probably be stonger than the wood strength. But, I can't believe why anyone...

RE: Wing rubber bands

This is straight out of the Hobbico manual for the SS 40.....
Use two #64 rubber bands per pound of plane weight. Crisscross of the last 2 isn't a bad idea. The LHS will have the #64 bands and the...

I absolutely agree that the first step should be to connect with folks at a nearby club. Get ideas/suggestions on beginner equipment and costs. I disagree with completely staying away from eBay as...

RE: 3 line tanks - 3rd line bend tubing or use tubing with clunk?

There's certainly no end of suggestions for this one. Seems like a lot of ideas will work. I've never tried this setup for a 2nd. clunk but remember a reply to a similar post a while back. Made some...

RE: Spinner size for 10-6 prop

For a simple plastic spinner 2 or 2 1/2" will work. There's no advantage to going to the larger 2 1/2. When mounted, make sure the cutouts on the nose cone piece do not touch the prop when mounted....

RE: Superstar 60

1/4 inch is one heck of a warp in a piece that is meant to be relatively flat to start. The dihedral brace build I described in my earlier post really is hard at all with a little patience. And, if...
