RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

The highway is close and that field doesn't have the recommended AMA clearances (it is owned by the park district not the clubs). Pilots there know as long as you fly short of the trees off the...

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

Looks like now is when you'll start making decisions regarding exactly which model you will...model. The geometry seems different in that pic but it is probably the angle of the photo. I also see a...

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

There is a panther displayed outdoors in Jainesville, WI at the VFW post. This might not be the best example to base scale details off of since it's surely been weatherized and all the gaps will be...

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

These are the best pics I can find that show that area:

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

I believe that gap is actually filled with a small fixed piece attached to the tank and wing but let me see if I can find a photo of that area.

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

The spot where the V and D shapes meet is gonna be your choke point. I think you're going to want to make the inside of the intake a good deal deeper in that area.

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

Saw another scale detail on these things...is anyone planning on adding the fuselage flaps?

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

I'm wondering if the bottom of the flap is flat or if there is a notch in it as well and the entire flap has an airfoil shape. I can't seem to find any images of the Panther's flaps up close but if...

RE: 1/4 scale F9F Panther build

Gorgeous build...will be a long time before I have the time, space, skill, and funding to do anything like that.

Will this bird be able to fly out of the Forest Preserve field on 107th St. or will...

RE: First

Well, as I was kinda worried about the Blade 120 isn't much of a challenge. I can hover her just fine tail in and am decently good at nose in. She's a pain to fly outdoors as even in light wind I...

RE: Electric converted retracts

I just built a Hangar 9 P-51 Sport 40 ARF. A fitted air system is available for it but I chose electric. The sky is the limit with electric systems. All you need are electric actuators and a fairly...

RE: First

The Blade 120 arrived today at the LHS. Picked it up and the extra batteries I ordered, bound it to my DX6i, and fired her up. The first battery pack was spent messing with the trims. On the second...

RE: Whats wrong with this picture?

My club has a major highway about 750 feet from runway center on a 45 degree angle. We simply have a rule that you don't intentionally fly over the highway. And we have lots of giant scale flyers out...

RE: Whats wrong with this picture?

Unfortunately I see a good deal of bickering and not a lot of positive movement.

We must remember that we are all in this together. We are a relatively small hobby and it might take as little as...

RE: First

I bought Phoenix and a Blade 120SR yesterday...along with a bunch of extra battery packs (already have an excellent 4 port multi charger). So I'll be working on orientation and cyclic all winter and...

RE: Finally making the move to 2.4-Which radio?

Seems we have a Aurora/Futaba specific discussion.

May I at least mention the DX8?

Programming is a breeze and ModelMatch will prevent the transmitter from binding if the wrong model is...

RE: When to retire warbirds

That looks expensive...

I retired my P-51 when the receiver battery died base to final...

But I didn't really retire it since I got the ARF version and threw the old motor in the new fuse....

RE: Few questions before I buy my first plane. (New pics added!)

If you want to go helis the DX6i is a MUST. The Mustang I mentioned is $600 worth of stuff for $400. I'm actually looking to get into helis myself and having the DX6i already means I don't have to...

RE: First

Phoenix is already on the to-buy list. I might grab a Blade 120SRfor indoor flying too. I'm not looking to go 3D, scale flying is my ultimate goal. My concern with buying a clone is spending more...

RE: Few questions before I buy my first plane. (New pics added!)

I learned over the course of four weeks on a Hobbico NexStar (wasn't my bird). I then jumped into a Hangar 9 P-51 PTS Mk II. A lot of people would say that's not a trainer, and I might agree with...

RE: First

I already have a DX6iso I don't have to worry about a TX. But what you've described to me is a $100 flying machine...minus receiver, batteries, and blades. Interesting.

RE: First

My LHS carries Blade, Align, and T-Rex brands. I was thinking the Blade 120 SR BNF but perhaps this is too small? I need something that's more of a challenge than a counter-rotating heli but not so...

First "Real" Heli?

Hello All.

I'm looking to get into helis (Already have a P-51 fixed wing) and I'm looking for advice on which helicopter would be a good starter. I already have experience with ultra micro...
