RE: Retracts for GSP Zero

Are you referring to the 71" Zero made by CMPro (sold by GSP)?

If so, I use Robart 510W1 with the stock 3/16 wire. They have held up quite well and are reasonably priced. I do need to bend the...

RE: fuel for YS 110

Yep, I agree... "Coolpower 30% High Performance Heli" is by far the best for my YS 110 and YS 140 Sport. It is all I run now, even in some of my 2-strokes.

Not sure about Wildcat fuel (I've...

RE: The worst plane you have ever flown

Not an extreme speed plane... actually, it's an electric foamy, but in my case: a GWS ME-109.

Granted, this was mostly my fault since I was a newbie and decided to cover it with Ultracote, even...

RE: NOT a GOOD thing!

Actually, I saw something similar to that once but much more comical.

A fellow flyer had a Modeltech Magic Extra (the big red one)... that plane has a real weak spot on the fuse right at the...

RE: NOT a GOOD thing!

A really funny thread.. ROFL!

Ok, here's one I witnessed from many years ago...flying an Sportsman Avaiation F-20 with a side-mount engine (muffler on bottom) in a vacant field near...

RE: interested in buying a ys 110

This is true. I never hand start (just don't feel comfortable with it), but I did find out how easy these were to start one day by accident.

I did my usual priming method for the first flight...

RE: interested in buying a ys 110

I also understand they are doing away with the cylinder liner/sleeve, which is also what happened to the 63S when they upgraded the design. Not too sure I like that idea, but apparently it has...

RE: interested in buying a ys 110

Uh oh, another YS addict in the works! :D

Central Hobbies is awesome... they have good prices and excellent customer service. I purchase all my props from them, as they have such a good...

RE: interested in buying a ys 110

This has not been my experience. I have several YS 110s that I fly every single Sunday (thank heavens for Southern California weather!). One of them is about a year old and had 8 or 9 gallons of...

RE: Slop free four stroke throttle linkage

Skypilot,

A brilliant idea... I've had this problem on several planes and have ended up just oversizing the throttle linkage hole. Not ideal because of the fuel seepage into the fuse.

RE: Mach racer and engine thrust

Well, I can honestly say I did NOT miss that Mag 46 on Sunday. I've now officially swore off of their 2-strokes for good (their 4-strokes are pretty decent IMHO).

The TT Pro 46 with the Tower...

RE: Mach racer and engine thrust

Not pulling high G's? C'mon FBD, I've seen too many of your posts to know better than that! :D

Well, the Magnum 46 ended up blown anyway. Running it on the ground, after a few mins the engine...

RE: looking for a Zero ARF

There is a quite lengthy thread about the 40-size CMP Zero...many reported the recommened CG was WAY tail heavy, so hard to tell if the issue was the model -or- too many people flying tail-heavy...

RE: Mach racer and engine thrust

I didn't mess with the thrust angle... seems to fly just fine like it is.

I don't know why, but I never seem to pay attention to the recommended throws. I just follow the TLAR method - "Eh,...

RE: Futaba FP-S130G Retract Servo Installation

efish,

I would opt for a low-profile retract servo. I use Hitec HS-75s and have had decent luck with them, and they are reasonably priced (about $35 in the US).

There is a lot of fiddling...

RE: Sportsman Aviation F4U Corsair-Tips Please

It is very similar to the H9 Corsair... even many of the pictures in the instructions are identical. Rumor is they are made by the same manufacturer.

bradk04, some tips...

RE: YS110 Problem corrected

Carl, I have several of these engines in various warbirds... getting them tuned right can be a bit of a challenge, but oh so worth it. You absolutely have to get these motors into the 9000+ RPM...

After seeing one of these fly at the Planes of Fame airshow in Chino, CA this year... I've been keeping an eye peeled for them as well. An impressive plane for sure.

Even my wife was impressed...

RE: CMP Mustang P 51 Buckeye Blitz VI

BankYank,

What tailwheel are you using there? Looks like it's pull-pull, did you tie that into the main rudder servo pull-pull arm or is it powered by a separate servo?

Right now I have...

RE: CMP Mustang P 51 Buckeye Blitz VI

Agreed, a great plane. Mine is powered by an Evolution 26GT (gasser) and flies great. No tail weight needed, but had to put a 2200mah 5-cell RX pack in the very back of the plane (directly under...

It has been spectulated that the two Corsairs are made by the same factory, with the 60-size marketed by H9 and the 50ish size going under the Sportsman Aviation name.

I had the Sportsman...

RE: YS 110 prop choice

aroetlin, trust Dave on the RPM... my experience shows that he is absolutely correct.

I prop for speed (warbirds) and with a 14x12 on 20/20 fuel I was getting ~8700rpm. Moving to a 14x11...
