RE: staling wingtips

Thanks,
I wraped it in foam because that is what someone at my club said to do. The satalite reiciever is not wrapped in foam, it is on the side of the plane with velcro on its back.I have to...

Ok, I will say strate away that IMO the skyraider was set upas well as one could set up a 40 size plane. The Skyraiderhadone eneloop 6.0v battery pack with a...

RE: staling wingtips

Thanks for the comments,
The dx6i lost two planes, first a Yak 54 on its 3rd flight, I was coming into a low fast pass when it just roled over and dug its nose into the ground! I had no input that...

Today I was maiden flying my new Skyraider Mach 2. I was using a new radio as my dx6i had already lost to many planes.I slowly exalerated the throttle on the dx8 and the Skyraider lept...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Update:  I eventually decided to buy another engine rather than pay the $100+ to refurbish this one (an ASP 52 for $59 from Hobby King but that's another story) however I ordered a new set of...

RE: Tank height vs. thrust line

Moved the engine today. Moved it anticlockwise about 115 degrees and it runs as smooth as silk and the crankshaft is still lined up with the centre of the firewall.  Only issue was rerouting the...

RE: Holy Spektrum FAIL?!

Just to clarify...

Plane "A" DX6i and receiver "1" (lost radio contact and crashed)

Plane "B" DX6i and receiver "2" (lost radio contact and crashed)

Repaired Plane "B" DX8 and receiver "2"...

RE: Tank height vs. thrust line

If I tilt the engine sideways it changes the position of the fuel inlet on the carby but it doesn't actually make it any lower however turning it more does make a difference so I'll try that. BTW the...

RE: Tank height vs. thrust line

It's a low wing trainer so I'm thinking the lower centre of gravity is a good thing. I can't really move the tank as it's at its highest level now. Your suggestion of a 90 degree mount is a good one,...

RE: Holy Spektrum FAIL?!

My two cents worth. My son has had a DX6i for almost a year and hasflown it with a combination of AR6200 and AR6100 receivers. This has been with both foamies and balsa/nitro planes without issue....

RE: What engine?

I just bought an ASP 52 and am VERY impressed!  I read a very good review here http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/asp52_review2.shtml and agree with everything it says.  More power than an OS55 AX at 1/3...

Tank height vs. thrust line

I recently purchased a new engine and upon delivery set it up on my bench with an 11 x7 prop and a tank of fuel. It started easily and ran very well, soon consuming the tank of fuel. Happy with its...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Just got a reply to my query about the cost of piston and liner from a popular Sydney model shop ... $85 + postage (probably ~ $10)

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Thanks Gray Beard, I did contact Brian and he said although he repairs and reviews engines he doesn't supply parts. He recommended a LHS in Sydney and I've currently got a query with them about...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

I like conspiracy theories but in this case I think we're a bit off the mark. The rounding of the head bolts suggests to me that a previous owner has used the wrong size allen keys to try to undo...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Well I've decided to go down the rebuild path.  I now have the engine completely dismantled.  The exterior and cage of the rear bearing is very rusty but 'seems' to roll OK.  The front bearing has...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Tacho is OK.  The engine speed has been informally checked by some VERY experienced rc flyers who all agree it's too low (and in comparison to my OS 46 AX even I can hear it)

The prop I'm using is...

RE: TT 46 Pro maximum 8500RPM

Thanks Evan, I've removed the liner already.  The conrod moves easily on the pin but will only come about halfway along the shaft before it stops, seemingly limited by the amount of movement at the...
