Actually I think they make things with a range of 100km and a cargo capacity of 35kg or possibly even more. They're also gas powered. It's called a full size helicopter. :p

I figured it out long ago. I just used a 3 cell lipo battery. My airplane has a nitro engine so I don't need to worry about supplying power to the engine and transmitter on one battery.

My club thinks i'm crazy too but they just don't care for fpv flying. Note that you will need your ham radio license to do any fpv flying. I already have mine.

I haven't ever flown fpv before. I want to place my fpv camera in the cockpit to keep from getting engine oil and stuff all over the lens. Here's a picture of what it looks like....

At least your friend has an excuse to buy a new airplane. Maybe you could get a seperate battery for the engine and reciever if it's not too expensive to prevent a total...

EDIT: after internet research and hours of messing with it, the bottom line is that the threads on my engine's shaft are gummed up to such an extent...

I swear that this engine wont start if my needle vavle is set more than 2 turns open if it's cooled off and hadn't run in the last 2 minutes. However, I did manage to get it to start on 4 turns open...
