RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

One at a time...

If you make rules that allow more main stream equipment to be used then costs will be lower. There is no doubt that flying at the WC level will always be expensive but as with...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

There is a good reason to allow use of the larger batteries. You don't need to discharge them as deep and that makes for many more useful cycles. More cycles = lower cost. If you limit the discharge...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

Bill,

Please let us know where this magic shop is? The motors used by the F3A fliers are not going to be found in any standard catalog of motors. The motors that are being used pretty exotic in...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

Here is one view that might cause some thought...

Is it not the object of the contest, Nats or FAI to see who are the best pilots? Does counting the last gram or dB help in that objective? Is...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

With all due respect allowing the cell count to rise by 2 cells is not going to affect the cost in any serious way. The system current would likely drop by 15% and lower capacity batteries could be...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

The F3C people have already fixed the problem in their areawhy not bring the F3A into the fold too?

Next year the voltage limit goes up. Is there any reason to not adopt the higher voltage?

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

Why not level the field and make both play by the same set of rules? FAI rules are changed as the events change. In my view the best solution would be for both to be subject to the same limits on...

RE: USA AMA NSRCA Pattern Nats Muncie Indiana

Here is an old rule that needs fixing by the FAI. The nitro planes are weighed "without" fuel and the electrics are weighed with batteries both should use the same rule. Weight "ready to fly" should...

RE: US Nats FAI Update - FINAL RESULTS POSTED

Chip flew with our NeuEnergy XP4900 batteries. The controller was a light weight version of the Castle 85HV powering our F3A motor.

Sounds like electrics are pushing the nitro motors off the top...

RE: 12Z Band change from 72 to 35mhz

Thanks for looking into this. I must say that for a high end radio that is likely to be used in international events this business of having to change the coding when going from one country to...

12Z Band change from 72 to 35mhz

I have a USA version of the 12Z and need to use it this summer in Romania--on 35mhz. I have arranged for a 35mhz module but it is not clear if there is some other change needed. I am not using PCM...

RE: Axi outrunner or geared Hacker?

The geared solution will give you lowest weight and highest power/weight. The geared setup can also turn a larger prop which will be more efficient too.

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships

A a flier who has been on a number of F5B teams I can tell you it is not the job of the team manager to raise funds. Their job is to get the team to the contest and deal with the event officals. Fund...

RE: AXI 53XX Pattern motor

Sorry to hear about the problems. In 2 weeks a much higher power 6.7 P42 gear reduction will be available as a retrofit for the smaller P32 reduction on the 15XX. This is the same gear reduction...

RE: Outrunner vs Geared brushless for Aerobatic Foamies

What is being lost here is the fact that a good quality gear drive will be nearly silent--but it will cost a bit more than the cheap GWS type drives. If you can get past the cost issue the geared...

RE: Outrunner vs Geared brushless

A good quality gear drive does not make much noise. Too many people look at a GWS setup and get the idea that all gear drives make loud noises.

RE: New motors for pattern

That is a bit different than here where the trend is to larger porps at lower RPM. More torque --not less.

RE: New motors for pattern

I can't see why a outrunner would be much different in spool-up than any other motor. Any difference is likely more due to prop and controller differences.
