Thanks Joe,

Looks like the Viscount is the one, a historically significant model. Perhaps one of the first to use trike gear and a symmetrical airfoil as well.

Hal Debolt introduced strip ailerons?

Supposedly, in 1960 or 1961, he is credited with introducing strip ailerons, but I can't find any of his designs around that time that have them. In 1963, with the Taurus, Ed Kazmirski even gives...

Anyone have the J-3 plans ( 1.4 m wingspan )? I need a wing plan, or at least enough details to draw my own plan. You know, things like rib thickness, spacing, spar sizes, aileron dimensions, etc,...

RE: Looking for Airfoil advice

The scale airfoil is a 63A, there is a difference. In this case, you will get more lift out of the scale airfoils, but the Selig 8036 does have a slightly mushier stall, note the flatness at high...

RE: Sullivan molded foam wing sets

There was an airplane in March 1977 M.A.N., called "The Graduate", by Don Prentice, that used these wings. Plans are available from MAN

I can...

RE: Old magazines vs current generation magazines

There really isn't much to building

1. Glue 2 pieces of wood together
2. Repeat until there are no pieces of wood left

The interesting thing is to study how designers arranged those...

RE: Top Flite Freshman trainer

You can read RCM review here,

They put bigger ailerons on it, and as per most reviews, touted it...

RE: Piper (PA-15) Vagabond questions

Hostetler may provide you with a booklet, describing how he finished his model, along with some other tips. However, he assumes you know how to build.

RE: Old magazines vs current generation magazines

I always liked the original designs that were featured, with plans, with the article written by the designer, where he gives his thoughts about the origin of the design, etc..

Don't see too much...

RE: Old magazines vs current generation magazines

Haven't bought a new magazine since the mid 90s. Instead, I find all the good old ones from before I entered the hobby, on Ebay and whatnot

Sig kit RC1 ?

I'm having difficulty finding out which kit was RC#1 for Sig. I know 2 and 3 were Chuck Hollinger's PT-19 and Cub designs. I *think* #1 might have been Henry Struck's Cessna 170, kitted by...

RE: need help understanding my airplane flight characteristics

sounds like the ailerons maybe aren't centering properly. There could be some binding in the system somewhere.

RE: top flight 60 size p51 question

At 1/7 scale, a 19" prop would be the right size, so I don't think you have to worry, unless grass is really long?

Build it according to plan, but make the elevator removable. Then if you want, swap the elevator with the tapered one you have and see the difference for yourself!

RE: Spiral slip Stream is it real ?

It is physically impossible for it not to exist. That would imply that there is ZERO drag from a propeller blade or any other surface moving through the air.
