RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

I've been busy building an autonomous "UAV" system that I plan to mount to my Kadet at some point. I'm using APM 2.5 gear and planning on designing such that I can pick my waypoints real-time. I'll...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it; I made alot of mistakes in the build process, I can tell you that, lol. I actually work on real planes for a living as an engineer. Aviation is a huge part of my...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

I submitted my build description on this forum if you'd like to check that out. It's post#205. I showed my determined setup along with all the performance measurements as well, so skim through it and...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

ELECTRIC!!!! lol.... not to take away from the fuel guys, but here's why I like electric better:

1. quieter
2. cleaner and you can work on it in your house
3. no smell (unless you like the...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

What exactly is "kit bashing"?  I've heard a few people on here mention it.  Googling, it seems like it's combining different kits together, but I've heard it as meaning flying your plane very hard,...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Oh, the stuff we wish we had on video! lol... I think that would be worth the top prize for AFV! haha. Hilarious. So no structural damage to your plane other than the skin puncture? Impressive.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Early 80s? hmmm. Have you had any problems with the coting or adhesive loosening up since then? One of my friends has an old kadet that he scratch-built in the 90s, and the some of the epoxy has...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

That's a beautiful looking plane! Was that an ARF or did you cote it yourself? I really like that blue stripe on the left wing.

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

That style plane makes me think of those pushers where the prop is mounted behind wing. I always liked those types of frames. Very cool!

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Have you measured the thrust on your system? I'm hesitant to put much more than 1:1 (thrust/weight) because I'm worried that I may damage the airframe or fold the wings or something. What is your...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

yeah, that "forced roll" from coupling down/side thrust is important for 3D performance planes; they almost always have it. Not sure it matters as much with the trainer-type planes. Some folks on...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

No problem. I hope that info can help anybody who looks up that sort of info, lol.

As for the downthrust, I kept about 1-2 degrees or so... it needs a MINIMUM amount of downthrust to couple with...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Protractor, compass, and ruler, my friend. lol. You can do it. Just be patient and redo as many times as you have to until you get it how you want it. Who cares if it's not perfect either. It's all...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

I think outlining all the leading edges in white will look great (kinda like Sig's Senior Kadet scheme), and it will definitely make it pop visually when flying. Maybe a white belly. Maybe a white...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Gary, that's a great color... I really like that alot. It will look awesome with a stark white outline. Some kind of 1960's Army style look or something. Very cool. The texture on the solartex makes...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Does your wing make alot of noise? It looks very loose... is that ok for flight? lol. That plane looks ANTIQUE! lol. You should build a new one and hang that badboy up as a decoration. Looks cool all...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

@groundstrike:
Per our little sidebar we had, I figured I'd post it publicly in case others wondered as well:

For 6-8lb trainer/scale planes, I typically use a range of 5s batteries from 3300mAh...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

40 minute flights on one tank! Wow. Is that normal for the 40 size kadet? My friend (who flies fuel, not just gas), says he used to get 15-20min out of his kadet senior tanks. What kind of flight...

RE: ~~Sig Kadet Brotherhood~~.

Do you guys know if there are any plans in the near future for an "electric" ARF Sig Rascal 110? I don't mean a conversion, but one designed by SIG to carry batteries/ESC/Motor instead of a fuel...

Dangit! I'd like to grab a Rascal 110 at some point after reading about it all night... but I'm not ready to pull the trigger on a knee-jerk purchase just yet, lol. Probably not till this summer....

Can you explain some of the flying differences between your senior kadet and the rascal 110? Likes/Dislikes?

I thought solartex was for clothing! haha. How does it feel compared to monokote brand? What are the differences that you like/dislike about it?

As far as color, you DEFINITELY need a nice...
