RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

According to TT it has a displacement of .421 cu in (6.9cc) http://61.221.10.43/english/products/eng/9041.htm

I'm not really too concerned about the displacement. It's apparently legal, so...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

I'm not sure if a .42 is legal.

As for tank most of us are either using the stock tank or making a bladder setup for it. I wouldn't worry about the size of the tank. They come with 8oz...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

The .40 is a decent engine. It's not great as far as .40s go, but it will pull around the planes we use for racing just fine. Most of the people in novice use the LA .40, although there are a...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Wow, if some one comes out to a race with that equipment I think I would be pretty impressed! I would like to see some one race with an escapement! It took a little bit of searching just to figure...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

The racer and the raider are very evenly matched. The racer is a little cleaner and should move faster through the straights, you should be able to turn better with the raider since it's a little...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Ya, they like to do that! Mine started backing out around 5-6 tanks (maybe sooner...but I noticed it then). I replaced the phillips head bolts with some hex head bolts and used some blue loctite to...

RE: Wrinkles: REMOVING THEM!

I've had some ARFs that are bad...but I think you "win." If you use a heat gun set it fairly high (mine will catch paper on fire if I leave it for a second.) You need to start from the center of a...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

We had a great practice race at GAMA today! Looks like we'll be adding some more racers to the roster here in the Central Texas area.

Here are some pictures from today's practice.

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Well, that should the entire ordeal much more interesting!

I could bring out my high start and set it up for bungie launches :) would be just like going off of an aircraft carrier!

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Sweeeet! I'll be there!

The racing part won't be too bad...it's the landing part that might be a little rough!

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

I don't have any weight in the nose or tail of my Racer, and I set it up to the specs lined out in the directions. As far as I know Todd doesn't have any weight in his Raider, and I'm guessing he...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Todd and I both have LAs and have "run the gamut" on props trying to find what works the best. We have tried everything from 10x4s - 10x6s as well as 9x6 - 9x8s and even a couple of 9.5x?. All of...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

I think the race is going to happen no matter what. I received an e-mail a couple of days ago saying that we will race between showers if need be.

RE: Club 40 - Rules / Mod discussion

Funny that you mention this. I'm going to be trying some 30% in my LA .40 this weekend just to see if there is any performance gain. I doubt there will be that much, as to really take advantage of...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Sorry if I'm speaking out of turn here...but this is getting out of hand.

The idea is to keep everything a level playing field. Many people like to tweak their planes and will want to add...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

From my experience I see changing the gear on the LR40 to the gear on the SRM2 as more of a safety feature. On the side with the cracked spar there was no indication that the wheel had come into...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

The majority of things listed above don't really cause concerns with me...personally I think the following should be allowed:
1 - Adding more throw - shouldn't help or hurt you in a race, in all...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Quick warning for all those flying the LA Racer. A couple of weekends ago I was out flying with some pretty high wind. I made some "not so hot" landings, but nothing too terribly bad. After my...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Maybe a GMS Engine? I don't have any experience with it, but it looks like it has SLIGHTLY more power than the TT40 at a little lower RPM. I've been considering picking on up (the price is right!) ...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

I think the real benefit of the 2 pole is that you do stand on a normal flight line, which is much more accepting to most clubs. As I understand it the goal of Club 40 is to engage not only new...

RE: Club 40 Racing Hangout

Well, I had to make some new LG for my LA Racer. It took a couple of pretty hard landings last weekend due to the high winds on Sunday (speaking of which, Jim, where were you?! I heard rumors that...
