RE: "Unloading a prop"

Yes it is true. My Sonerai engine will turn 3400rpm on the ground but drops to about 3100 at about 35mph. Very strange unless you expect it.

It happens because the prop is stalled until its gets...

RE: New to electrics, need help

I did some more math on the issue. I could run a 9x10 apc prop at about 13500rpm to get the same speed.

A os46fx is rated at 1.6hp or 1194 watts.

So, what do I need to get 1194 watts at...

RE: Shrike Upgrades

Loose the glass? A few ounces of glass make it slow? You would do far better to clean up the heaping amount of drag being caused by an exposed engine installation.

Shrike Upgrades

After reading lots of posts about shrikes folding their wings, I went and took a look at my partially completed plane. I have fully sheeted wings and intend to glass the inboard sections of the wings...

RE: Turbine Overhaul Times

On a full scale turbine it is usually the combustion liner and chamber that crack first. I would assume that it is going to be the same?

Turbine Overhaul Times

I am interested to know the typical overhaul times on RC turbines. I had heard that it was something like 25 hours.

I really know very little about rc turbines so please pardon my ignorance.

RE: Shrike Folded its wings..

There are two loads that are easily exceeded with an overpowered shrike. The first on is the one we are discussing. I agree a double spar would go a long way to fix that. The second is torsional...

RE: Shrike Folded its wings..

How do you figure that fully sheeting the wing will not help much?

I would be inclined to think that it would help quite a bit as far as strength and rigidity OF THE PANEL. I suspect that...

RE: Eight Turbine B-52

My remarks are not uncalled for if this is still America that I live in.

You can't tell me that a 300 pound model full of jet fuel does not have the potential to be very dangerous. That is the...

RE: Eight Turbine B-52

It is. Not trying to start a fight here. I just seems crazy to put that kind of money into something that could go up in smoke so easily.

RE: Need prop advice

ya, a 10x8 is way too steep. I have spent alot of time tweeking props including cutting them to get custom sizes for a stock 46fx and ended up with an apc 9x7 being the best. Better vertical with the...

RE: Shrike Folded its wings..

Strange. did you reinforce the wing roots with glass on the dead one?

At what point on the wing did it fail? the root I assume?

RE: IS SIDE EXHAUST TUNED PIPE WORTH IT?

"The diamond dust is a fairly high drag plane...... creates a lot of lift...... lift creates drag. Drag increases as a square function of the speed. So, you need a LOT of HP increase to increase...

RE: Shrike Folded its wings..

Forced induction

I have been pondering this for a bit.

I know that there are some four stroke rc engines that run a supercharger. I have never heard of a turbocharger for a small model. I do have an idea that...
