RE: Treehopper Twin

Hi Mr. Buckner, I'm really not sure yet but i think I would like to put two engines on the wingtips and 1 in the middle of some typw of aircraft. I have seen a german design from WW2 with this...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Thanks for your comments Paul. It looks like you do some great work too. I really like your landing gear designs. The LG on the f104 is a work of art! It must be really time consuming to get that...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Hi guys!

For all of you waiting to hear if this twin flys or not, IT DOES FLY! It flys very well and tracks straight and true. I finished it up yesterday and began breaking in the engines in....

RE: Tree Hopper

Hey Craig,

Looks like you two are having loads of fun with it! It's great to see some young kids take pleasure in something other than video games. You guys aren't getting any of this wind we...

RE: Tree Hopper

Hey Craig,

Glad to see you got it flying! Sounds like you have a great flyer there. I have got to get mine finished so we can all compare the flight characteristics. I just have to buckle...

RE: Tree Hopper

Heya Tom, I took your advice and built 2 degrees downthrust into the nacelles.;) I also made the horizontal stab removable via two 1/4 wing bolts. After I get this finished and if I like the...

RE: Tree Hopper

Hey Craig,

I don't think that the wing loading is to bad on it. The site says that it should be around 21 oz/sq ft, and between 12-14lbs. I can't find if you installed flaps or not, if so...

RE: Tree Hopper

Hi PSk and chicks5,

First off I weighed my treehopper today less the batteries, receiver, and servos. It came out to 14 lbs 10 oz (this is the average weight). I weighed it three times on...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Tom,

I had thought about a third engine also!;) I'll just have to see about the wing loading when I get it finished and ready for maiden. I know that you had said that maybe the CG was off...

RE: Tree Hopper

Hi Tom,

Get the leaf spring type. The only difference between the two is that the leaf spring uses two springs attached to the rudder, whereas the Haigh unit attaches to the actual rudder...

RE: Tree Hopper

Hey Tom,
Glad to hear you're still flying yours and got the engine worked out. Ohio Superstar makes great tailwheel units. I have always used their units with no problems. I had not thought...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Hey Tom,
Thanks for the compliments! I'm going to try the current wing and see. I still have to make up a balsa nose cone for the Treehopper also. Finished all covering now except the nacelles...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Ok NikolayTT, I see what you are saying now about the landing gear and the wing span. I do have flaps on it(look closely and you can see them). The main landing gear was designed for a giant scale...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Hi Dave,
Thanks for looking. I was wanting plenty of power for this one as I plan to have it perform on floats as well.;) It may get a third engine also.[X(] It was originally designed as a...

RE: Treehopper Twin

Hi NikolayTT,
I thought about adding some length to the wing as well, but I thought that because the wing has such a broad chord I should be alright. I still don't understand what you mean...

Treehopper Twin

Hi All,
It's been a while in taking shape but it is recognizable as a twin now. The nacelles gave me the most frustration. I couldn't figure out how to get the strength I wanted to attach to the...

RE: Bolt on twin nacelles?

Thanks for the reply Rich.:) I didn't know if you would actually go the full length of the space between the ribs with 1/4 ply or not. It would seem to be the strongest way to bolt on the nacelles...
