I didn't cut or unsolder any wires.
I carefully removed the connectors from the plastic plug case by bending up the retention tabs.
This way I could slide some small shrink wrap over the wires...

I took them back to the LHS where I bought them and they said they are fine and won't replace them.
I had some protective covering on the wires ( shrink wrap ) and they say this...

The nick had nothing to do with the problem since that shaft turns with the gear.
It just was binding the up and down free play.

I found the problem!!!
I took one apart and found that the final output shaft had a nick in it just about where the final output gear rides.
This is why it was so stiff to move the post up and...

There is no good resolution.

My time was wasted.
My trust was abused.
It's not worth shipping back for a refund.
It's just a lesson in " let the buyer beware ".

everything was badly warped, from the fuse to the wing spars?!
the abs fuse skin had so many warps and defects it looks like the mold was in a fire.

Advertized as weighing 40oz in flight.
My AUW after needing to put 10oz in the nose to balance is 75oz!...
