RE: razor yak balancing

8.5" back is the sweet spot. A lot of people like to fly it at 8.75 or even 9.[8D]

RE: OMP Razor Yak OS 120 2 cyle

I called Seelof a while back when I had the plane completed to go fly. No answer. I haven't seen him since nash... He can abuse mine first. It'll take him a while to build an arf!!! But it's...

RE: OMP Razor Yak OS 120 2 cyle

This is great news to hear. Most people have used 4 strokes. Glad that a 2 stroke will work too. LOL. I'm sure flight times were short as your thumbs were getting cold and numb. I can remember...

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

That's a great idea. I wish I had a small drill press at home.

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

A good friend of mine made them on his vinyl cutting machine. You may have heard of him before. GATOR! Many thanks Gator. These worked perfectly.

RE: Market for Profile Building

Yes. I would say there is. Jeide buys 2 kits from OMP it seems. He keeps one for himself and sells the other in arf form. They sell fast and his craftsmanship is awesome.

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

Mike at OMP asked me if making a hatch up front was feasable for a battery. I took a look at my cads and under the motor there is a verticle piece of balsa so it's a no go there. However above the...

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

That's funny right there. I would like to build a hybrid of the RazorYak for a 50cc motor. However with the hybrid you just as well put a little more work in it and build a fatty.

RE: Plane for a OS 108 FSR

You're going to take about a 6oz weight penalty with this engine on the RazorYak. I've flown a 7lb one before and it was fine. You'll have plenty of power too. Just use the throttle!

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

This is more of a 60 size plane and I would stear away from the YS110. It would add some weight and flight characteristics would be slightly diminished. However the extra nose weight would be ok......

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

Yes, they are glued into the wing. However, like Mike said, I prefer mine in the fuse. So I yanked them out and glued them in the fuse. Be sure to taper the end that was glued into the wing...

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

Some have asked about what size servo to use. I like to us the Hitec 5645's or 5625's. Both of them on 6V work great. They have plenty of torque and speed to boot. Plus metal gears. Please don't...

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

There is no need to dowel the fin to the fuse. You need to mark where the fin goes on the top of the fuse with a pen. Take the fin off and then use a sharp razor blade and cut the covering from...

RE: New 56" RazorYak ARF

The stab. will need to go all the way to the front of the slot doutcalt. The reason the slot is so large is because when I designed it my intentions were to have the elevator joined at final...

RE: 5/32" titanium "piano wire"

I'm also looking for 5/32 titanium wire. I have an rc blimp tail gear. It is made from the titanium wire and it broke!!!! With no hard landings at all. I may have to just use steel.... dunno....

RE: OMP 47" Yak V3 (Build)

I got my fuse and tail feathers done. Started working on a wing tonight. I didn't put the sheeting on the spar like the directions said. I don't like doing it that way. It's going together just...

RE: Extra Stiffy Balance Question

I have no idea where mine balanced at. I just slapped the pack on the nose area in front of the wing and worked my way back. Just trim for hands off flight, roll inverted and see what it does. If...

RE: Extra Stiffy Balance Question

I know Mike and everyone from OMP is in Toledo right now. But I have the same setup. Except I'm using 780mah Tanic Packs. I put my battery just AFT of the leading edge of the wing. I'm running...
