RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

Im worried about forwards flight with thin wings.
Mine are going to be 21cm from LE-TE. What effect will this have on stall speed and handling?

RE: Rotating engine nacelles...

Sam,
I was reading about the jet guys using gyros for unstable planes at slower speeds, but they have to turn the gain down when flying normaly, or the controls go NUTS.
I think vtols may also...

RE: <span class=

Im the nut with the RSVs![&:]
The good thing about the RCV is it is geared 2:1, so it can take bigger props. Im going for 18/10 3 blades.

Vacum formed moulds

I'm new to composite moulding, and I will be making male plugs, then forming the moulds with a vacum forming machine. What material can I use to make the plug with, that is easy/quick to sculpt? ...

RE: Rotating engine nacelles...

tiggerinva, It sounds like you're going down the same sort of track as me.
My idea for the rotation of naccels uses 1 complete shaft inside 6 bearings. The shaft will have an arm welded on at the...

RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

Thanks for the info sam, but I still like the idea of a dinky .10 engine. I'll put a pin in it for now, - it'll be Feb/march before the guts of the vtol go in the fuz.
My wings are planned to be...

RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

Ryan, I may go against nature and consider an electric fan, but I have some Questions;
how much run time do I get, how heavy/large are battery packs and whats the cost of entire package?

RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

Sam, I'm typical dare-devil, so as strange as it sounds, I'm prepared to risk £1000 and about 4 months on something that MAY not work. - I'm not a Mav for nothing, you know!!!

I'll need 1 17x12...

RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

Ryan, as your looking for design ideas, I would say that sam's philosophy is the safest and most likely to work, as he can use the flight surfaces for controlling hover. But it all depends how...

RE: calling all VTOL'ers!!!

sam
It sure is tempting to reduce my costs, but many of the ff9 features lend itself to VTOLs. eg, one of the side sliders is ideal for the engine rotation, the flaperons can be linked with the...

The fuz was basically made around the engine, pipe, f.pump and f.tank, -...
