RE: Nextar Only

I too am new to flying this year, and have had my Nexstar up for about 25 flights. I ripped the AFS and radio, and installed the 6EXA before I ever started the engine. (Got $125 for the stock Tx....

Thanks Matt. Just got out of the shop for the day, but I have a 10x7 laying around I will measure. Thanks for the tips on the batteries. I have lots of room for batteries on this bird so that...

NexStar replacement prop

The NexStar comes with an 11x5 prop. I found the plane to be a little mushy in any kind of wind over 10 mph. I managed to ding my prop pretty good the other day, and went to replace it with a Master...

RE: Transmitter throttle problems !!!

I had the exact same problem. At full throttle, it would back off about 1/4 by itself. Sent it back and got a replacement from Tower. They were very quick about it as well. Mine was purchased in...

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

Be careful with the AFS! It looks at light differences, and depending on the angle of the sun, can get very confused. There are specific instructions for this in the manual.

I am not going to...

Chea-Pass Float Plane COnversion

I am in the final stages of a Chea-Pass Float Plane kit from House of Balsa. The kit calls for a .10 to .12 2 cycle, but I am thinking about adding to my electric collection with this one. I have...

Words to the wise .....

I have been flying for a very short time now, but I witnessed 3 mistakes at the field today, 2 of them ending up in destroyed aircraft.

1.) My carb kept flooding when trying to start the engine....

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

I was out last Saturday, and just as I was completing a left turn with a crosswind from the left, it snapped right over on me. Luckily I had altitude, and was still on the buddy box. Only have had a...

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

I have been flying mine for a few weeks, and after timing it on the ground at full throttle, I get 12 minutes to a tank. I have noticed an engine sputter though on 1/2 tank. We noticed air bubbles...

So THAT'S how you get to the landing gear lock assembly!

Ouch! Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

RE: Great Planes Extra 300S .40 Kit Building log

Nope, been on weather hold and have been traveling. I'm all ready to go though. I have had my NexStar up a few times as well as a Lil' Rascal I built for my daughter. I am waiting for the perfect day...

My Lil' Rascal took a dirt dive

Made some wing mods to get rid of the tip stalls. That worked great, just had one problem: A loose nut behind the sticks! Ooops! I need to paint one sneaker green, and the other red![:@]

So a...

RE: Sig Li'l Rascal wing modification

Thanks for the compliment. I am getting better at building, than I am at flying!:D

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

Twindaddy, the AFS uses a light sensitive sendor to maintain straight and level. The sun this time of year is a bit tough to resolve, but basically your right.

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

Well good for you, personally, I dont believe in the AFS for myself either. That is where they may deny your claim. Good luck, and keep us posted!

RE: Sig Li'l Rascal wing modification

Well I decided not to wait and went ahead and made the mods. I trimmed the factory covering back 1/16" either side of the TE and spot glued the TE extenders in place. A little MonoKote, and viola!...

RE: Sig Li'l Rascal wing modification

Great! Thanks. We got a douse of snow today, but as soon as it clears up, and Tower delivers my 7x6 props, back in the ait I go. I think I'll stick with the tape for a few test flights, just to make...

RE: Any Hobbico NexSTAR CRASHES or MISHAPS???

There is about a 2 second delay when switching from Trainer to Trainee or vice-versa. I noticed this when matching up the trim settings between my 6XEA and my 4YF buddy box. Add that to the reaction...

RE: NexStar's Auto Pilot (ASF) - who's using it????

Well I maidened my NexStar last weekend. Went well, but fine tunig took most of the day before the winds picked up. I have to say, almost everyone came over to look at it, and most complimented the...

RE: Sig Li'l Rascal wing modification

Well I finally put my Lil' Rascal up in the air today, factory stock except for the beefed up gear mount. First flight went well, the breeze tossed it about a bit, but not enough to cause problems....

RE: GP Extra 300S .40 kit engine dilemma

Can't say from experience, but from what I have read, the .40 is a bit underpowered. The smallest I have heard being put in is the OS .46 FX. There are some folks that went with the .46 LA, but...
