It was not the lack of options in power which led me to suggest an air frame designed for electric as a better beginner outfit for one wanting to fly electric rather than converting a nitro aircraft....

Just my .02, but if you are new to the hobby you might do better to start with an air frame designed for electric if that's the way you want to go. 3D Hobby shop offers a real nice high wing trainer...

If the hole is the correct size, why not install the helicoil, then insert a greased bolt and fill (from the back side) the remainder of the hole with some kind of good epoxy like this

Sounds like you got a false peak.

I learned a long time ago my batteries are only as good as the chargers I use on them, and I also learned if I let a battery get too low I need an adjustable...

I've never used the gel either. I've been using Devcon 2 Ton and 5 minute which is thin enough to run before it sets. Thanks for the tips on gap filling though.

Any thoughts on Devcon gel epoxy? I'm new to planes, but I've been building fishing rods for years and Devcon 2 ton is the best thing I've found for attaching cork grips to glass or graphite blanks....
