RE: Saito 450 question

So you're gonna hang your Saito in a racer, huh? [8D] Should be quite the hot-rod! I'm jealous!

I liked my 24 oz tank in the George much better than I like the 32 oz tank in the Sukhoi. I...

RE: Saito 450 question

Tim,

I just noticed that you posted a video of your radial running on the test bench back on New Years Day. Can't believe I missed it this long!

Wow, it looks great. And sounds awesome! ...

RE: need some Help with Saito 450 - 3 Cylinder radial

Chris,

That's a beautiful Stinson you got there! Just wait until you show up at the field with a big Saito up front :D , everybody's gonna stop and gawk.

I've flown 450s in a 24 pound...

RE: need some Help with Saito 450 - 3 Cylinder radial

Chris,

The little "Multi-Cylinder Four-Stroke Engines" manual (covering the 170, 325, and 450) that came with my first 450 said open the high speed needle 5 full turns (with the low speed needle...

RE: need some Help with Saito 450 - 3 Cylinder radial

Shutting off as you pass mid-range is what my first one did before I leaned the low end sufficiently. Same thing with the low rpm's. Lean the low end and don't be surprised if you have to lean it...

RE: New Planes from Meister-Scale

If the Ta-152H is out then I vote for the J2M Raiden.

RE: Saito 450 question

Hannu, thanks for the update! Wow, your low end was not rich enough out of the box?! Amazing! I don't envy you when it comes time to pay the fuel bill! I'm always glad to hear others out there...

RE: keleo exhaust

Kelvin's been great for me. Made me a couple of sets of custom exhaust for my N1K2 "George" fighter from Jerry Bates plans.

Perhaps there is some background here which you have neglected to...

RE: Jerry Bates P-40 plans

George,

Welcome back to the hobby. If it were me, I'd have the parts laser cut but that's just me. You shouldn't have to send your plans anywhere to get the parts cut. I bought laser cut...

RE: New Planes from Meister-Scale

How about developing a conversion kit to modify the FW-190D into a Ta-152H?

RE: Saito 450 question

Chad,

I'm a glow guy and have zero experience with gas (although I freely admit to having a long-term infatuation with those RCS radials :) ) so I can't give you a comparison power-wise between...

Not stupid at all! But no, you don't need to light both sets of plugs. Just light one per cylinder and you're off ...

RE: Saito 450 question

Hannu,

Here's a good thread:

There are a few more out there if you do a search. But since you have a newer model engine I...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Oops! Guess I missed that page.

Great job. Can't believe you designed that yourself. Makes me feel sheepish about having a set of plans sitting out in the garage all this time.

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Hey DWR,

Where'd you get the Po-2? Is it a kit or from plans? I have the RCM plans for a Po-2, is that how you built your model? Looks awesome! Did you do a build thread anywhere? I got a...

RE: Saito 450 question

Yak,

If you want to be absolutely sure, I'd say go with the 32 oz. The Sukhoi's designed for an 80cc gas engine, hence the 32 oz tank recommendation in its instructions. I don't really time my...

RE: Saito 450 question

You guys may not own one but I own 2.

The first 450 I bought is mounted in a H9 Sukhoi -- it's got a 32 oz tank (as per the plane's construction manual). I got tired of landing with a half tank...

RE: Palmer A-20G Havoc

I tried to build it. Twice. Still working on the second try. I insist on building the thing if only because I sprung for the scale retracts and Glennis wheels. So no matter how much it hurts, I'm...

RE: Saito 90 radial - help with model selection?

RE: Fowler flaps

Sam,

The Robart hinges work well but they are tall. I wouldn't be surprised if they were too tall to fit inside the trailing edge of a Yellow P-38 wing.

I think a better option for a P-38...

Those pics are of the mechanism in the plans that Jerry posted the link to. They work fantastic. I got a set on my 1/5 scale Kawanishi N1K2 George (94" span, Jerry Bates Plans). I didn't like the...
