RE: IS ASP 52A 2 STROKE GOOD?

I solved my problem today. I ran the fuel line up and over the back of engine to make it higher. That stopped the fuel drippping from carb. I also put a Sullivan glow starter on plane and adjusted it...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I have both Great Planes model and Nitro version. The Nitro is a better plane and cheaper. The only thing I can add is both models are not for beginner pilots and you need very little up and down...

RE: KMP Cessna Skymaster

Put a piece of thin model plywood on each wing at CG, held in place with tape. It will not affect the CG. Now you have a strong point to put your balance machine against. I have two 91 four strokes...

RE: KMP Cessna Skymaster

I built one to fly and the other to hang in my office to look at. The one in my office I put a instrument panel, an interior and total paint job to match my full scale aircraft. Dale

RE: KMP Cessna Skymaster

I have built both KMP and NITRO-PLANES model 337. I fly my NITRO version a lot. I put 2 -70 OS 4 stroke engines in, and have taken off with only 1 running. I needed a longer ground roll on 1 engine...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I own both Seawinds, and believe me you need a lot of lead in nose, to get CG were it needs to be. Take a good look at both planes with that massive tail way behind CG. That is the reason you need a...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I also have both Seawinds. The Nitro model flies just like the Great Planes model. They are both very sensive on elevator control. The Nitro model has better wing tips and gets off water easier. But...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I had the same thing happen to me with canopy. I had 6 flights out of 15 atempts to get it off water and on the 5th flight the canopy blew off and got chewed up by prop. It was 200 yards away and I...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I built the Great Planes-Seawind last winter and flew it 6 times out of 15 atempts to get it airbourne. It bounced every time. On the last flight it bounced in the air about 3 feet high and slammed...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I have 9 model seaplanes I now fly off water and have been flying off this lake for 50 years. The GP Seawinds is by far the hardest one I have getting off water. I have a private lic. and have flown...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

If you read my posting, I said I flew the Seamaster 3 times on the same chop with no problems that the Seawinds could not handle. I fly the Seamaster in all kind of chop and I never have a problem. ...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I have flown my GP Seawinds a total of 9 flights off smooth glass water. That is 9 out of 15 tries. I tried on sunday with a little chop. It bounced in the air before it was ready to fly, it stalled...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I tried another take off on water with my GP Seawinds. It was a little choppy and it bounced in the air before it was ready to fly. It stalled and cartwheeled back in at 3 feet over water and broke...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I have flown my Seawinds off water again with my home made wing tip floats. It got off smooth water without a bounce again and had a perfact flight. Did a lot of stunts and found the only one it...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

That is not the cracking we are talking about. That looks like it got bumped. The cracks we all have, is at the bottom of vertical stabilizer were it meets the fuselage, just forward of the rudder. ...

RE: Nitroplanes Seawind

I purchased the Nitro-Planes Cessna 337. It is very well built and flies even better. The instructions are not very good, because they are not written by a person with a handle on English. I have...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

Yes I have the same cracks were the vertical stabilizer meets the fuselage. I would apply epoxy on fine fiberglass cloth and suport this area if you want to improve this model. I now have 9 flights...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

On the wing floats I added. Look at the bottom of the wing tip. Do not go larger than the bottom of tip. Like I said the tips I made work fine. Nitro- planes also makes the Seawinds. They have larger...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

The wing tip floats I made are 1 1/4" thick by 7" long by 1 3/4" high. I used a 1" thick, light weight foam for the core, covered with thin balsa. I used velcro at front and back so I could remove...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I flew my Seawinds twice this week-end. I changed my prop & spinner to 2 blade 13X8 fiberglass prop on my Saito 80. Seems to get off water much better.
First flight was flawless followed by a...

RE: Great Planes Seawind

I used a 80 Saito, but I should have used a 90 or 100. You need more power to get it off the water. My ship is just marginal and does not get off that easy. That bounce starts because it is laboring...
