I put one of these in a Wild Hare 40% Giles over the winter and flew it a few times. I replaced a DL100 with it for the weight savings. So far it seems to have the same power and a little lighter....

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

Pat,
Kochj is right, I also had two of these. One initiallly with an 80 then converted to a DA100 and there really isn't that much difference in the flying characteristics when you use the rear...

RE: New 35% Edge

Just dawned on me guys, where do you fly? I go up to TN about twice a year to fly with one of my buddies, he lives in Hendesonville and we travel to Bowling Green to fly the larger planes.

RE: "3D or die!" they said...and I had to choose the latter option.

That has got to be one of the best write ups I've seen in a while, ILMAO reading it. Reminds me of e-mail exchanges with my buddies as we crashed our way from glow planes to 50cc birds, 100cc's and...

RE: New 35% Edge

RE: WOW!! New DL 111cc and 55cc !

Wait a minute guys, a larger journal does not increase the displacement! As some have said you either increase the stroke or the bore, enlarging the journal does nothing. You need to move the center...

Anyone know if we can still get these? Were sold by RC Showcase, need a 80/80/300.

Thanks, Ed

RE: WOW!! New DL 111cc and 55cc !

Well said Cashpoboy, that's what I've been thinking for years with all the battles that go on here. Even though my trimmer doesn't have a battery for the ignition.

RE: Kill switches for gas engines

It only took one time for me when the throttle linkage came loose. Had to fly the plane until the gas tank ran dry. Now I always have a kill switch. I have both the Smart fly and the 42% products...

Mejzlik 28x10 on my Python, Mejzlik 26x12 on Comp-arf Extra. Both on DA100's with standard mufflers, 6400 and 6800 RPM respectively.

RE: Something different for 50cc?

My flying buddy and I flew the feathers off of a Vision and I wish they were still available here. I have the carcass in my shop now with it slated to go on the build table as soon as I finish my...

RE: Great Planes Reactor 120-160?

The option I chose for mine was to use the standard muffler and rotate the engine 15 degrees. That way I don't have to cut out the side of the cowl. Might have it ready to test fly next weekend. Keep...

RE: Opinions on your motor Experience

Had the DA50, my buddies had a few, did the BME50 before those. Running DL50's now, really can't tell the difference when the cowls on the plane. Fuel flip & go. Probably best bang for the buck. But...

RE: Used 35% ..New Engine??

I've used Toms' system of 3/4" square blocks cut to length in the corners, holes drilled through lengthwise, with strips of lite ply running between the blocks. It's really a sturdy set-up and should...

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

Kochj,
I can deform fiberglass stuff with a heat gun, do you have something in mind that can take the heat? That would be my main concern on anything in cowl.

Also I tried to get one of the...

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

Gregman,
It depends on what you mean by scale aerobatics. I'm a regular sport flier, one of my buddies is a 3D guy, and 2 others are both 3D and IMAC guys. They flew the plane also and said that...

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

Kochj,
I had a Super 80 in my Cap, bought it with a pipe and with the standard pitts. As you know the pipe won't fit because of the wingtube position in the Cap. The 6400 RPM number I gave was a...

RE: GP Cap 580 1/3 scale

Kochj,
Two of my friends had DA85's, spent most of the summer with the engines going back and forth to DA for upgrades & gasket replacements. I have a ZDZ80 and really didn't notice that much...

RE: engine for python

Mike,
You were close, the DL tached 6380, the DA 6400, both on 28x10 Mezlick's. I've got the DA in the Python now and its still foamy like power in this plane and no problem with battery location...

RE: New 35% Edge

Easy now Pat! I think you need to clarify that last statement about DA. There 50, 100 are as you say probably the best quality, but I can tell you their 85 is not, got two friends with them and the...
