Most if not all higher end chargers take 12v input. Get a better charger and then just buy a 12v power supply for it. You should be able to charge the battery in less that 2 hours with that setup. Or...

Most people use trigger type. There must be a reason for that. I personally used both and preffer trigger type. It feels more natural i guess, for me at least.
