RE: Roamin Research Mig 3 build!!

I agree with Evil_Merlin if you've built a short nose version (actually the same length as the later version but referred to as such) then you've got to got with a color scheme that is appropriate. ...

RE: P-47 TF Wing Fillets

Fillets for me depend on how big they need to be and whether the fillet it from the fuselage to the wing or from the fuselage to a formed wing saddle.

If you already have a saddle I generally...

RE: Roamin Research Mig 3 build!!

Fred,

I've been watching this post and the Mig looks great. I've been off busy with what seems like everything else other than building. I started a scratch built Mig-3 about 3 years ago and...

RE: Is Red Star R/C Still In Business?

jmv,

The nose on the Yak is built around the motor mount which is integrated into the fuselage (ply). You then mount the engine and the nose ring. the sides are built up balsa so I think that...

RE: Is Red Star R/C Still In Business?

jmv,

The Yak-3 is a pretty fast build for a warbird kit. It fly's great with a strong 45-50 2-stroke. I have a SK50 turning a 10.5x7 prop.

The LaGG-3 is definately "scale" and more work...

RE: First "Warbird"? TF GS P-47, P-51 or T-34?

Though not quite as big as the TF GS series, I promise you'll have the only one at your field! And it will take a 23-26cc gasser, a strong 90-2S or a good 1.20-1.50 FS. This kit builds pretty easy...

RE: Where Can I Find .40 Size Warbird Kits????

P51_fan,

Gringo Flyer recommendation on the Red Star RC Yak-3 is a good one. Though he hasn't flown his yet, I can tell you from experience it fly's great with a hot .46 or .52.

Though...

RE: Red Star RC -- LaGG-3 Beta Build

This weekend I had some good build time. I spent a few hours working on the cowling. I decided that since the spinner ring on the model is really 4.3" and the spinner is 4.25" that I would add a...

RE: Red Star RC -- LaGG-3 Beta Build

Motor mount is completed! I finished up the re-work to the firewall last night. I finished the carbon-fibre fillers in the firewall gaps (Dave Brown Carbon Fibre Tape). I cut the tape (which is...

RE: Good scale kit for first time build?

A .90-1.20 size scale LaGG-3 kit is now available from Red Star RC.. This is a laser-cut kit that goes together very well. See my post on the Red Star RC Beta-Build in this forum, I just updated...

RE: new LaGG-3 Kit!

The plan and build allow you to build nearly any Series from 1-66. The tail is designed to be modified to match either style of rudder and the air scoop can easily be modified.

The scale...

RE: new LaGG-3 Kit!

This is mine before I filled the low spots. You can see her wing pretty good here.

Oh, the plan calls for mechanical retracts, I went with Robart Air-up/Spring Down. Also has plans and cuts...

RE: new LaGG-3 Kit!

Definitely not a .60 size warbird. Might be able to sneak by with a 90 FS, but I think its really a .90-1.20 2S type of plane. Don't let the 66" span fool you on its size, these Russian birds like...

RE: Tower Uproar 60 Thrust Angle

Not sure if it takes a full 24 hours -- but I always let mine go at least over night. Just make sure you use the "Blue" and not the "Red". The "Red" is permanent. You can find a good thread sealer...

RE: are arf and rtf good for are hobby ????

I love ARFs. I have two of them an Uproar 40 and a Kyosho P-51. Both of them have made me a much better pilot, probably because I have very little emotional attachment to them. ARFs have been good...

jeff_acal,

Glad to see that most of the twist came out when attaching the bottom to the top. Even if there is a little twist and if the plans call for attaching the horizontal stablizer I might...

RE: Tower Uproar 60 Thrust Angle

Clean the threads thoroughly with alcohol then use Blue Loctite thread sealer. Let fully cure (24 hours) the bolt should hold tight.

RE: TF Spit...Big Problem

If you used white glue on the sheeting or some other water-based glue, you can spray everything down with windex and pin it back to the board and let her dry. Some of the twist will come out when...

RE: Tower Uproar 60 Thrust Angle

I've got one with an ST45ABC turning 12.25x3.75 prop. She'll climb all day, nice and slow. There is plenty of room to put the battery in the tail (you'll need it or plan on adding a bunch of lead...
