I always had trouble sizing my brushless motors to the air frame untill I received my copy of the hobby lobby catalog. I know it is probably not as accurate as a watt meter but I simply find a plane...

I didn't realize that you could purchase just the gears for the gws boxes so i would replace bent shafts with a whole new gear box. Then I found Balsapr.com they have a huge selection of replacement...
