As far as crystals are concerned, what do I need to get to match a dual rate transmitter and a dual rate receiver?

Do I need two dual rate crystals?

Why are 6 channel transmitters so popular?
I want aileron, elevator, rudder and throttle plus one more for landing gear or something, but what do people use a sixth for?[sm=confused.gif]
