RE: G3 vs G3.5 vs G4 vs FS one vs Areofly

I have owned G3.5, FS One, and AFPD and these are my opinions.

AFPD and G3.5 are comparable as far as graphics go, but FS One is lagging behind just a little (plane details and the lack of...

RE: P47 Thunderbolt

I believe the Top Flite Giant P-47 is modeled in Add-on #3 for Realflight. I was hoping to find one that is close to my H9 .60 size Jug, so hopefully I can change some parameters in the aircraft...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I'm sure that you've probably done all of these things, but here are a few suggestions:

-make sure the carb is seated well. use a clamp to hold the carb while you tighten the retaining nut.

RE: Hangar 9 P-40 Warhawk

In reference to some of the concerns about the thin tail feathers, I have a friend who recently assembled and started flying his H9 P40. The plane had a Thunder Tiger .91 four stroke engine in it,...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

I took my plane out to the field today and tested the new carb out. After just a little fine tuning the G90 is running better than it ever has. An idle around 2340 rpm, 9000rpm top end with a...

RE: *** CLUB SUPER TIGRE ***

Well, I've been having some problems with my ST90 recently, so I sat down and retuned it. I followed the directions on the ST website and got it to where I thought it was running the best it ever...

RE: H9 60 Size P-47 Thunderbolt-Build & Flying

Looking really good! Keep us posted. I'm still flying mine (when my engine's not being moody) and really enjoy it. About two weeks ago I had two deadsticks and was able to basically glide the length...

RE: G90 problem

Thanks,

that is the method I have been using, but if the idle needle is out of whack is there a good way to determine a good starting point? I've tried the "blow thru a tube and listen for air"...

G90 problem

I have had a ST G90 for about a year now and have had problems off and on. The engine has been mounted with the head down at a 135 degree angle in a H9 P-47 since I got it. Due to the way it is...

RE: H9 60 Size P-47: New Thread

Sorry for any confusion...I meant from one wing to the other...that should place the scissor in the right direction and keep the strut arm oriented correctly, also.

RE: H9 60 Size P-47: New Thread

It's not a big thing but if you're going to try and make it more scale, you should probably start by switching your struts around...the scissor should be in front. Good luck with your mods and keep...

RE: H9 60 Size P-47 Thunderbolt-Build & Flying

My flying field is grass and we have our share of pests that tear it up. Even with the stock retracts I never had a problem on the ground. The Robostruts really do absorb more shock without tossing...

RE: H9 60 Size P-47 Thunderbolt-Build & Flying

DDM552,

Sounds like it's going to be a great plane. I would do what was suggested above, using microservos to activate the inner doors, if you're going to keep the mechanical retracts. Since I...

RE: H9 Spitfire Build

I'm running a 14x7 Graupner prop with my ST G90 on a different H9 plane and it has been the best propeller I've found for it yet (I've tested several sizes of MA and APC from 13x8 to 15x4). The...

RE: TF P47 Retracts

If you have your heart set on Robart retracts and struts and still want air up/spring down action, go with the 701RS Robostrut ready retracts. I have them in my H9 P-47 and they work great. The price...

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation

I'm assembling my 2nd Twist 40 because my first one is in two pieces and going to a friend who likes to tinker. It broke right behind the canopy, pretty much like most of the others I've read about. ...

RE: Measuring Actual Thrust

Well, I used the scales to narrow my prop choices down to a 14x6 MA, a 14x7 Graupner, and a 15x6 MA. I took the bird out to the field on Saturday and decided to keep the 14x7 on her. It really let...

RE: Magnum .91XLS

Nice numbers...I've been thinking about getting one of these engines for a .60 size Extra 330 I have. I currently have a GMS .76 in it, but it's really a pig. The plane weighs 7 lbs 8 oz and flies...

RE: H9 60 Size P-47 Thunderbolt-Build & Flying

I'm using a Slimline pitts muffler. I sanded down a dowel and plugged one of the outlets with that. I drilled a small hole in the outlet and secured the dowel with a small screw. Otherwise, the...

RE: Measuring Actual Thrust

Good points.

The test is conducted on a flat, paved surface (I'd already thought about that).

Based on what you're saying, a 14x6 to 14x8 prop might be what I need for the P-47, even...

RE: Measuring Actual Thrust

So far the P-47 has been a great plane to fly and if slowed down it gets mushy, but won't tip stall. In fact, it's hard to slow the danged thing down enough to land sometimes. I've had a Graupner...

RE: Measuring Actual Thrust

Thanks. I've been trying to decide on the best props for a GMS .76 mounted in an Extra 330 and a G90 mounted in a H9 P-47. In both planes I'm not interested in screaming top speeds, but want to be...

RE: Are used engines worth the risk?

Like others have said, it will come down to a combination of experience, skill and luck. I bought a OS .60 FP on Ebay and when I first got it I had not truly learned how to clean and tune an engine...
