RE: airfoil thickness

In a way, all of the discussion on HOW you would produce a low RN foil 9or whether it is worth while or not) is unimportant, since none of us (I'm assuming) can make one accurately at that size,...

RE: Thicker Wing=Slower Plane?

Thicker wing equals slower plane and stalls at higher aoa. For that reason, thicket airfoils will be able to turn tighter but are difficult to stall for 3d (which revolves around flying in the...

RE: cells for speed 400 6v 5x4 prop

I charge at 2C, so 1/2 an hour. That's kinda hard on the batteries; 1 hour is best but its acceptable. Thay're really good cells.

RE: cells for speed 400 6v 5x4 prop

Try the CPB1400's found on this site:

http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/

Get a 8-10 cell pack (10 is the most powerful, but may make the motor have a shorter lifespan). You'll get alot of...

RE: Increase Voltage for More Power?

YES.

Hit the ground really hard and they short out, often with disastrous results. The fires are VERY hot. You need to (at least you're supposed to) keep them in a steel box while they charge...

RE: folding prop on wing

sure, people have used folders on wings. Works real well, too. Just reverse the blades (just like you would normally reverse the prop) and stick it on.

However, you need to keep the spinner on...

RE: First 3D Plane

You don't want to learn to fly with any 3D plane. Try a slow stick or unicorn.

RE: Any Zagi-like plane

Unicorn is excellent, and XE2 is very close (I hear). I like my unicorn.

Check out www.unicornwings.net.

RE: LIPOLY FOR ZAGI XS???!!!??!!!!!

Basically, lipoly's are fragile. One really big crash on your zagi and they have the potential to short out and explode. What a waste of a $100 battery. That's why the average person doesn't use...

RE: Hollow moulded wings...anyone tried to make?

You can just make a normal cored wing, and then just melt the foam out with acetone. This is a good method if you just want to make a single wing, although pointless if you are going to make many of...

RE: Health Risk with Carbon Fiber!!

good to know...I'm in high school and am about to start a made-from-scratch all carbon fiber rocket for a county-wide competition. I like knowing how to avoid these issues before I gat any...
