RE: Funtana 90!

I think Troy Built's website is www.troybuiltmodels.com but I'm not sure. I know they advertise here on RCU so you might be able to find it here somewhere.

FWIW, I use a 1100 NiMh 5-cell pack...

RE: Funtana 90!

Wind Junkie, that was me with the same problem. I am pretty sure it is also a lateral balance thing, the right wing wanted to drop when I would pick the plane up. I've added 1/4oz of lead to the...

RE: Funtana 90!

Hmm, same thing with me. I have to hold the glow starter on the plug manually. But I have the Saito 100 and am using the plug that came with it. Definitely gotta watch out for that prop!!!

I...

RE: Funtana 90!

The problem with holding the spinner and the tail is that the engine is angled to the right. The crankshaft(thus the spinner) tip isn't in a straight line with the rest of the fuselage. Thus a...

RE: Funtana 90!

Mark, that was another thought that crossed my mind right after my last post, especially with the engine mounted on it's side, with the heavier part to the right.

As far as laterally balancing,...

RE: Funtana 90!

Hey no problem. Didn't really take it as a flame.

If I'd interpreted it like you did, I would have said the same thing.

Wind Junkie - mine does the same thing, always circling/banking...

RE: Funtana 90!

I MEANT that it wasn't necessary to seal both sides of the gap.

Re-reading my post, I can see how it could be interpreted that way. Sorry for the confusion.

RE: Funtana 90!

Wover,

You can seal the gaps top and bottom but it's not necessary. I've got mine sealed on the bottom.

When you seal the gaps, you can use clear fingernail polish(just apply it to the...

RE: Funtana 90!

Well I put 4 more flights on mine today.

First off, I switched to an APC 16x4(from a Pro-Zinger 15x6) and went to 30% coolpower(from 15% powermaster).

Holy cow, what a difference!! I can...

RE: Funtana 90!

Yep, 10# sure seems heavy with the 100. I haven't weighed mine yet.

Found something interesting tonight while cleaning it up, and doing a general check over:

"Hmmm, where is that ounce...

RE: Funtana 90!

Sorry for hogging this thread so much lately:

For you guys using the Saito 100 with 30% and a 16x4 prop(I assume APC W prop), can I get some peak RPM numbers if you have any?

Thanks.

RE: Funtana 90!

OK just for fun, I put it on my Great Planes CG machine.

I had it set at 8", which is as far back as it will go.

The tail still sat on the table. I'd guess I'd need 4-6oz of lead just...

RE: Funtana 90!

Hehe, well, it wasn't a matter of confidence, I just figured it would be tailheavy, but I just didn't know how much. My UCD is ungodly tailheavy, so I figured, at worst, this one might be a little...

RE: Funtana 90!

Hmm, thanks for the suggestions. I hope as this thing breaks in it will produce more power and that the prop and fuel change will help.

Funny, I mounted all my servos in the stock locations...

RE: Funtana 90!

Well I maidened mine today.

Plane flew beautifully. It was weird having zero wing rock in harriers and elevators. I'm used to my UCD, lol.

I am extremely dissappointed with it though,...

Whelp, mine is nearly done.

Need to run to the LHS tomorrow and pick up a spinner, some balsa stock so I can mount the reciever, and a couple of gallons of fuel. Spent today and yesterday...

RE: Funtana 90!

Ok I have a question, I was looking in the manual and noticed this, and seeing it posted above reminded me to ask it:

The ailerons should be set to go up higher than they go down.

Why is...

RE: Funtana 90!

We have been pretty lucky here with the weather here the last few weeks. Several really nice days to fly, which is a lot compared to the situation a few weeks ago.

On Saturday I was able to...

RE: Funtana 90!

I hear a wide range of discrpancies about CG location - some were complaining about it in the stock location and others like it even further back. I'm guessing that the former just aren't so used to...

RE: Funtana 90!

I've been working somewhat steadily on mine for the past 3 days, two things:

I was pushing an aileron servo into the bay, and used too much force, crushing the rib and breaking the bay in that...

RE: Funtana 90!

I agree. And IF he is truly using 3004s on 1/4 scale planes, I sure would not want to be in the vicinity of any of his birds flying around. That small of a servo on a 3D aircraft such as the F90...

RE: Funtana 90!

Well I've finally gotten moving on mine. Hitec HS-625MG on everything and a 6525MG on the rudder with an hs-81 for the throttle. I've decided to go with the Saito 100 for this, from what I am...
