I've done the same thing holding a wing under an exhaust pipe of a running vehicle at the field! Plenty of heat there to warp some washout into a wing though this worked better back in the old silk...

Obviously, you have the iron block version. A change to aluminum block and heads will reduce the elevator throw requirements! Be sure to throttle down on the downlines too.
