RE: CMP Hellcat

My own design Hellcat has the wing and tail at 0-0 with 3 degrees of down thrust (scale amount) and it does not seem to be too much for it.

RE: CMP Hellcat

John,

You certainly can leave the horn off of the wire joiner and use an external horn on one elevator just as you would any other model. Mine is internal simply for aesthetic reasons and...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Sharpeye,

The cowl was originally molded in right and left halves and the nose bowl as seen below. I've since assembled the three plugs into a single plug so I am no longer able to produce them...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Fred,

I will have a cowl but they are not available right at this moment. My prototype cowl was formed in 3 sections and then assembled. It worked fine but after looking it over it ocurred to...

RE: CMP Hellcat

I have not got that far yet Lou, sorry. I have shipped out a dozen sets of gear doors so somebody somewhere is bound to get a set mounted soon if they have not already. Anybody out there that can...

Thanks for the kind words guys, much appreciated.

You are too funny John! Thanks for the great pics of the canopy too. I can't get a good close up shot of the clear canopy with my digital...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Ron,

Can't speak to the CMP Hellcat but I have flown a 70 inch span Ziroli P-47 that was over 17 pounds and it flew just fine. I'm currently flying a 68 inch span Sea Fury at about 15.5 pounds...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Canopy plug is finished and the first (opaque) test canopies have been pulled. They look good but the acid test comes when pulling a clear part. I hope to pick up the material and pull some clear...

RE: CMP Hellcat

The canopy is next Steve! Which begs the question, with our without the framework molded in? I prefer my canopies to be molded without the frames. I usually build up my frames with primer or add...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Here are the promised pics of the finished drop tank and gear door parts. The parts are vacuum formed and then they are registered in the laser cutter and trimmed to size. They come just as you see...

Bob,

Sierra Precision also offer a rotating retract that will work in the Hellcat and they are top quality as usual.

RE: CMP Hellcat

John,

I'm not using any CJM gear so can't speak to that issue. I guess we may just have to get a few sets out there and see how folks make them work. I'll put a set in the box with your cowl...

RE: CMP Hellcat

Thanks for the kind words Ron. My Hellcat will only include a partial cockpit. The plan is to have a vac-formed tub which drops in and is deep enough to include a full instrument panel but probably...

I'm interested in purchasing or trading for a CMP Hellcat cowl if anyone has a spare.  I have a Brian Taylor Hellcat cowl which I would be willing to swap.
