I installed the Saito 125 in mine. Fit and weight was fine (just adjust your battery for CG). It hand-flip started and ran great. Responsive throttle and plenty of low-torque power with 15x6 MAS....

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68

I thought a OS .91fx (a high performance 2-stroke) was about the same as a Saito 1.10-1.25 4-stoke (full out power wise). I think the 4-stokes just have better low-end torque.

I have a Saito...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68

Yes, thanks. With the free shipping, they are cheaper than Horizon.

And for $54.77 you evenget a new hatch/canopy. I haven't ordered any spare parts yet, but I've noticed that most of the parts...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68

I haven't had a chance to go fly (or do any RC stuff for that matter) for some time. After you stop logging in here for a while, the system stops sending thread posting notifications ... I thought...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

It's always "exciting" when you maiden your new plane on high-rates :D

Glad to hear your like your Edge and that it's second flight was a little more normal.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Mix up some 30 minute epoxy and then thin it with a little regular isopropyl rubbing alcohol (like at a 4-1 part mix). It should paint right on. Allow 24 hours to dry. I use it on all my firewalls...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Looks good with the Pitts muffler. Nice to see you took the extra time to move the motor mount. All around good job.

How does the header tank work, or is really just to increase capacity?

Zamoua,

Yes, many of us like the Seagull Edge 540 and I think would also recommend it (I know I would). However, IT IS NOT really for beginners. You need to work your way up to it ... its more...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

I think they are all like that.

I think what you are suppose to do is line them up and let it create a gap on top for heat to escape.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

After last Friday's flight, the Edge 540 is on the bench for it's first major repair.

I was landing in a strong cross-wind. Needless to say, it wasn't a very good landing but I think it's...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

mv,

I've heard the YS is good, but I've never owned one.

After 1-1/2 years and over 100 flights, a few weeks ago, I experienced my first dead-stick landing with the Edge/Saito 1.25....

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

John,

I don't know. I used the stock hardware, and it's been on the plane ever since.

Try some of the Seagull hardware with a known 4-40 screw and you should have your answer.

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Yes, you measure the rudder's surface throw at the widest part (at the bottom).

When working with degrees it doesn't matter.

When working with inches it matters. In general, the manuals...

Rare Bear Mech,

Looks good. Sounds like they might have adopted a form of the "firewall reinforcement mod" that I used on mine into the production line.

However ... it might just be the...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

No, it's even thinner wire but it's inside a plastic tube that keeps it straight. Look closely at my engine pics on my build page and you will see it.

I ended up using it and it's been working...

Mr. Mugen,

Sorry to hear about your crash. Hopefully the engine and servos are ok. Sometimes when the plane breaks apart it saves the engine and other parts.

I'm really surprised how cheap...

RE: Seagull Edge 540 - 68" (60-90) ARF New v2- Building

Geardaddys,

Yes, they are very similar. The 3010 is a little faster, cheaper and lighter, while the 3305 is metal geared and rated at higher torque. I used 3010's all around except the rudder...

Only a MAS 15x6 so far for me ... It's the original prop I put on a year ago. I haven't put a tach on it lately, but it pulls it around fine. I have a new MAS 15x8 to replace it when the time comes....
