Sorta like "Honest officer,...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

The gist of the FAA NPRM has to do with extending regulation to small airframes (i.e. hobby-sized models) which are used in commercial services, whatever those services may be.

Unless "they"...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

From AMA's "Insider" . . .

Quote :

FAA and Model Aviation
by Dave Brown

Why are we hearing so much about the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lately? Many modelers are asking...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

I would agree with the proposition that while FAA could shut model aviation down in large fashion, it is indeed DHS (not OHS) that is the more likely culprit, although FAA has certainly shut down...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

No, I don't think that action was reversed.

The extant 2005 AMA Safety Code, Radio Control portion, reads as follows in part :
"9. The operator of a radio-controlled model aircraft shall...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

Commercial interests pushing FAA to regulate recreational AMA-style model aircraft so as to avoid being classified with "real" commercial aviation segments may be the death knell of recreational...

RE: FAA's notice of proposed rulemaking

I'm not worried about park flyers because I doubt that those things would ever get into the flight path of a rider-scale a/c, and if it did the damage would likely amount to a sparrow strike. I...
