RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I am not doing the Homelite. Mark Brill is. He does some engines on his own. He is also going to be doing a Husqavarna 25cc.

I used the HDA 48 on the G62. Same as they come with from Horizon.

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

If you look at Cummins Tools. they sometimes have Recon Ryobi Pro trimmers. It is the same engine. Also the Redmax weekeater uses the same engine. I guess cummins tools is not somthing else. Here is...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

The crank can be straitened and the backplate can be trimmed and 3 standoffs used instea. I have done it before on a couple of crash damage engines.

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I see some people were asking about ballancing the Toro. I never ballanced the crank on the Toro. It was allready good. Most engines are pretty close. Only a few need ballancing. I just used a Dubro...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I do not know of any manifold that will fit the Toro. I always made my own out of Delrin or Phenolic. As for carb, I used more 13.5mm carbs than 11.11. I had better luck and more power with a 13.5mm...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Dave,

I never messed with the pistons. Just did some port work. I know there needs to be a little squish band clearence or overheating and detonation can happen. I think .010 is about the...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Dave,

Thank You !!!! I just bought a Prather V stack from tower to try. It is the EXACT intake Horizon sells, except on Tower it is $11.99. What a rip off. I think the bell shaped v stacks will...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I have had the Toro up to 10,500 on magneto. It should not be rev limited, unless youe are higher than that. I have had a couple engines with a miss in the mid range. That turned out to be an air...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Tom,

I am actually going to try a stack like that. I usually use the GP stacks but they are so directional, I think the bell type may be better. It will give it more power and make it more fuel...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

8200 on the stock muffler is pretty good. A more open muffler would add a couple hundered RPM but would also be louder.

I use a dubro prop ballancer to ballance my flywheels. It works very...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I got it a minute ago. I have tried to deal with him, but he will not sell me any quantity. I think he would just rather sell them one by one on ebay. He gets more for them that way. Smart on his...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Tom,

Going down does change the duration on the intake, but it will not adversly effect it. It will increase power. I used the 1 bbl engine as a model. The intake port on that engine goes down...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I have not run any of the toro's on glow, or gas glow. I am now out of them. I have 2 on my own planes and that is it. I will keep them as is. The planes they are on do not need less weight. I...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

You say you have the thin cast engines. They have the opening in the back of the fins with a round embossment for a compression release or somthing correct. If so then they are the thin ones. But...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I won't be doing the ga/glow test on the Toro. I am down to just 10 engines left unsold so I will be out very soon. I do have some of the 18cc engines I would like to try that on. Thsy would be ery...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

What type of mods did you do. The FL25 will not do near that with just a larger carb and muffler. The one thing I do not like about it is the bad mag mount. It is hard to make it look decent.

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

The plug is allready a resistor plug in the Toro 25. The throttle linkage may be the entire cause of the problem. Go plastic and it should be OK. I have sold over 80 of the 25's and there has been no...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Modifications are a must on the Poulan 25cc. But the numbers you are getting are very good. Close to the numbers the toro 25 will do.

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

I did no modifications to them. I am sure that is why I have the lower numbers. I do modify the Toro's. That is good info to have. Maybe there is hope for the FL 25 :)

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

The Toro and the Featherlite weedeater engine are about the same weight. I am sure on glow the Toro would be just as light. I have not tried one on glow. The numbers you are saying on the weekeater...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Like I said, warm they flip start good on magneto, but cold is another story. I have flip started them cold but it is alot more work so I usually use a starter. Hobby People has the Magnum 180...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

It all depends on the plane. I have one in a Sig Rascal 110. It is a mag engine. I am putting one in a Harrier 3D. It will be EI for weight. They both run great. Magneto is less trouble and less to...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

That is true. If the price was $50 it may be worth it. But on EI the engine, even with a battery would be a little lighter. They are under 3 lbs with the EI unit. It is just a matter of preference. I...

RE: Who is converting Toro trimmers?

Capt,

I have heard about them, but the price is about $75 isn't it? For that it is better to loose all the weight of the fly and mag and go with EI. I guess if someone wanted to go with mag and...
