RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Ken,

My linkage was the correct size and I just adjusted the final length by twisting the clevis on the control
rod threaded ends. The servo should be centered first with a servo adjuster and...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

These are all good motors! Like the Chief, I plan to use the Power 32 as I have one already and it's
size fits perfectly under the rear bulkhead in order to allow mounting. I also tried the Power...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Wordy is correct about the power of epoxy. I do suggest to roughen up any surface that you want to epoxy
because it does add to the strength of the finished joint.

I am confident that you will...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Ken,

Good idea with your removeable wing mod. I would suggest that you use both of the metal
allignment tabs on the wing root as the leading and trailing edges of the wings need to be
properly...

Balsabuddy,

You were totally correct with your comments on the flying charactistics of the Reaper. I am really sorry
to hear about your crash, but once you have made all the necessary repairs you...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

PT,

Since I used the plasticclevis, I take a little length of fuel tubing and place it so that it can not
open unexpectedly, as shown in the photos. It's just a little extra protection.

When...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

PT, there are several ways to mount aileron & flap servos in the wing and it basically depends on the type
of wing that your model has. With the thin wings of the Reaper and the plastic servo pocket...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Chief,

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Chief,

That's unfortunate to have another delay on the Reapers. I sure hope that Nitro ordered a few
hundred or more! If I hear anything good to report, I will be sure to post it.

Also, It's...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

I took a good look at the provided control rods and clevises and decided that they would be
more than adequate. I did, though, use asmall piece of fuel tubing to hold the clevisarms
together just...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Mad Man,

E-Man is correct and his diagram is perfect. With the short control rods for both the ailerons and flaps,
be sure to attach the control horn so that the control rods are perpendicular to...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Then as extra insurance, I used hot melt glue to make sure that the servo was secured properly
to the wood blocks and would not move out of position when the flaps were engaged. Now, when
the...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

shows the servo glued into the servo pocket in the wing and then the cover is attached and held on...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

For the aileron servo, I attached a 24" servo extension and used a piece of heatshrink to
secure the joint.Since there was no pre-installed string to route the servo extension thru
the wing, I...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Thanks E-Man, I just found the extra hinges and decided to use them as they were more
flexible than I had thought. I used four on the aileron and three on the flap. I used thin Zap
CA and wicked it...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

Since the servo pockets were now open, I wanted to see if the digital servos, that Nitro sent,
would fit properly. The Raiden 12.3 Gram, Micro Plus Digital Servo, DMA-016, metal & plastic
gear...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

made servo pockets. Holding the wing up to the light will give you the position of each
pocket and remember...

RE: NitroPlanes - MQ-9 REAPER

I am inclined to stay with the standard provided gear, at least for the final review and then
explore the option of electric retracts. There are several that I would consider, such as;
