RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

Agreed. My century Jets required some modifications. I had to install hardwood blocks to build up the level of the mountingrails. If anyone wants to see this modification, I'll post pics.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

The stock gear is junk. Replace them and save yourself some trouble. I installed Century Jet retracts which still work great after about 250 flights in 2 seperate planes.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I had the same problem with my CJ retracts. The aluminum seems soft ad they bend easily so do the ones on my KMP ME109. Softer than a sneaker full....

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I love YS engines but, YS's can be finnicky and not want to run the way they should all of the time. Issues that usually relate to an air leak of some kind. Saito's have tended to be a no brainer...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I think a Saito 125 is perfect. My 125 needed about 1.5 gals of fuel through it before it started making good power. Then it started making power comparable to my YS91.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

A Saito 150 is way too much. I would go as high as a YS 110 or a Saito 125. A Saito 100 would be plenty even at that weight.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I agree. I had similar problems with mine also. I fixed this by using bolts with nylon inserts in the nuts. Also, the struts seem to be made out of soft aluminum and bend easily.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

Sorry to hear that. I wrecked mine while trying to avert an idiot hovering his heli over the runway at my field. My spotter and I each let him know that I was landing and the moron brought his heli...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I use a Graupner 14x7 3 blade with my Saito 100's and they run good but, I use only 30% with them. I agree with Richard L.. You will not get the performance with a 3 blade that you can with a 2...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

Richard:

You are right. I do think that more than 90 degrees is needed to cant the gear more forward and 95 degrees should be perfect.

I just looked at video that I have of my CJM's in...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I think I confused this with degrees of rotation while retracted. But, I agree. They could use a slight more rake forward than 90 degrees and 100 might be more than needed.

You do really nice work Woody. Mine are never that neat inside or, outside for that matter.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I think the site only lists 100 degree for corsairs but, I think that's correct because my CJ's don't turn as much as I'd like and they're 90.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I'd go with the Sierra's. In fact I need to order another set for the NanLong Corsair that I am building. I may just put the CJ's in the NanLong and get the Sierra's for the H9. If the NanLong...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I agree with Richard L. I have not used Sierra anythying but I will look there first instead of CJM. On one of my CJ's as Richard suggests, the rivets worked their way out and I replaced them with...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I installed a Saito 100 originally with CJM retracts and I needed only a couple of ounces in the nose for balancing. I would leave the servos on the tail. I think you'll get better performance from...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

Great job. They look good. I do think this plane could use flaps. I fly at a fairly small field and being able to get it in using less space is a real plus.

This is what mine looks like. I'm still a little unsure of what you mean by mismatch.

I didn't have this problem. Did you get a lemon or have others had this problem too?

Thanks Woody. I'll check it out.

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I didn't know H9 was going to release a Corsair with flaps. If I knew this, I would have waited for it also.

I'm not sure what you are referring to with the wing center section. I'll assume...

It's the same guy that I got mine from. He shipped it quickly and the plane looks good. If you want, I could send any other pics that you want if that helps you decide. My Century...

Your Corsair looks great. What did yours weigh in at?

Your described elevator setup sounds interesting. Could you post pics of it so I could see exactly how you set it up?

I have a Saito...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I coated the wheel well areas with liberal amounts of 45 min. epoxy. This is a known weak area of this plane. Also, if you nose it over onto the tail, it will break as it is delicate as hell. The...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

If you flew one of these .60 size warbirds with a YS that was properly tuned, you would not be happy with any other motor in one. I now have a Saito 125 in my H9 Corsair and wish I just put another...

RE: Hangar 9 60 size corsair arf

I have the CJ's on mine and I have about 150 flights on it and some not so great landings and they're holding up fine. They have never failed to work. I have had to bend the struts back a couple of...
