Best...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I attached a couple of photos of the fire wall modification I made to allow the use of pitts muffler. The cowl complete hides this change. Dont worry, I added serious fire wall gussets to off set...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

No, I had to add a couple of ounces to the firewall. I have the batteries and ignition box mounted on the false fire wall I made to extend the engine.

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I put a 40 cc Brissen in mine. It is completely hidden except for some small areas around the muffler but you can only see these spots from directly underneath. The spark plug boot also shows but...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I can only guess it must be different production runs but mine is fine, the gel coat is solid, no chipping (I had to be carefull at screwholes etc.. ) and my covering job was top notch.. a few...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I always found that just cutting out the fake cylinders infront of the head is plenty of cooling. In mine I cut out the cylinder and material on each side right up to the next cylinders, but my head...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I did a lot of modifications to the doors and wheel. First I added stiffeners along both sides of the doors to keep them from warping. I changed the elastic bands to small springs and found some...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

Did the swap on my windshield on the weekend, the old one fell right out with the same problem, the plastic was not sanded and the glue was brittle and not holding. Even the area that I tried to fix...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I have a feeling that the windshield is going to prove to be problematic. Even if not cracked it appears as if the glue that was used along the bottom is different than the top according to Hobby...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I used a gas engine so it could be different but I mounted my fuel port off of bracket off of the fire wall. I then cut a small hole in the cowl that matches exactly. My sulivan fueler has a screw...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

My only concern with Y harness besides programing ease is that there may be a power drop when using two hi power servos. A custom muffler is a good idea, you will need to make a mockup so you can...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

Yes that is what I thought. If you are using the same engine.. what muffler did you use? I used the pits muffler I had for it already, but this meant I had to modify the fire wall so the muffler...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I cut the fire wall yesterday nite to allow clearance for the muffler. I cut a horizontal line 1 7/8" below the center line of the engine then after roughing out the cuts, I finalised them by...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

I checked my Brisen and found out it is a 2.4 (39 cc) so it is a perfect match for the plane. I mounted the engine last night and the cowl clears the engine with room to spare (inverted) but the...

RE: Top Flite Staggerwing

Wow.. I have a 160 os single, a Saito 180 or a EVO 35 that I can use. Sounds like the EVO is better suited but, between the cylinder head and the muffler I would really have to butcher the cowl up. ...
