RE: CRRC GF45i

I've seen many a gasser engine with a little play when rocked back/forward. It's a combination of any play between the bearings, big end, little end, piston rocking in the bore, ring movement in the...

RE: CRRC GF45i

Hi Paul,

We definitely agree on fixing problems prior to flight, hence why a good test regime is required prior to a maiden flight.

I do disagree with your belief PCM doesn't mask...

RE: CRRC GF45i

Sorry Paul but I think you've missed the main issue. No one is suggesting PCM is not a good idea.

You use PPM to test for glitches, then minimise them as much as possible, only then can you take...

RE: CRRC GF45i

PPM receivers are used to determine what, if any, interference issues you have. Jumping to PCM is tempting fate.

PCM does mask poor signals, it's the nature of the beast. PCM rejects bad packets...

RE: CRRC GF45i

I was going to suggest the same thing. PCM is great for filtering out the odd problem but it shouldn't be used to hide an obvious issue. Your receiver could be fraction away from locking out at all...

RE: CRRC GF45i

Slimline mufflers for the Thor 45 or Zenoah 45 will fit but you need to check that your version of the engine has the exhaust port on the same side as the Thor and Zenoah engines.

I bought a...

RE: CRRC GF45i

There are several versions with, I think, the 'version 3' have the carb and exhaust swapped around. On my engine I wondered if the cylinder barrel could be turned 180 degrees so as to give a choice...

RE: CRRC GF45i

Hi guys, I'm glad your conversions are working well. Please don't take my comments as 'you must use special diagphrams' etc in your walbros but consider it more as something to keep an eye on. I'm...

RE: CRRC GF45i

For those who disbelieve Walbro has alternative gasket sets to suit different fuels, I refer you to the bottom of page 4 of the Walbro Service Manual. They clearly identify the standard gaskets as...

RE: CRRC GF45i

As a rough order of magnitude, methanol engines generally consume fuel at twice the rate of gasoline engines.

If you convert a gasser to run straight glow fuel you'll have to tune for a very...

RE: CRRC GF45i

I don't want this thread to go to far off topic but I politely disagree with linkadrips comments on octane....

Using higher octane fuel in itself will not necessarily yield big performance...

RE: CRRC GF45i

It'll probably need at least two rotations in order to calculate what RPM it's doing. Well, that's my wild guess.

RE: CRRC GF45i

Thanks Craig and Ace. I will look into them and see what happens.

It's amazing how quick the prices stack up, which makes me think this is a long term project...

RE: CRRC GF45i

I've tried looking through this thread for the poster who identified himself as the local CRRC Pro importer. I'm after an inverted pitts muffler and the US pricing (and shipping) will kill me.

RE: CRRC GF45i

Most Walbro carb equipped engines generally don't show a lot of progression in the throttle once over 50%. The same applies for ZAMA and similar carbs. Generally these 'cube' carbs are designed for...

RE: CRRC GF45i

I was not aware of your logo being cast on the engine which does clearly brand it as your engine but, respectfully that is a cosmetic change rather than an engineering one.

I did point out that...

Hi Roger, I bought one of your engines and have yet to run it but I have performed a thorough examination of it and see no reason why it won't perform as you advertise.

I can confirm the...

RE: CRRC GF45i

CRRC are made in China and sold around the world.

My engine is reportedly a "Peak" brand. Main differences appear to be the muffler, ignition (with auto-retard timing), no velocity stack, and...

Thanks very much for that information. Glad to hear the engine has a nice electronic ignition module, it was something I was going to investigate.

My next challenge is...
